kratom: potentiate or inhibit opiates?

upward spiral

I know this topic has gone around several times over the past few years but was hoping for more recent input.
I want to know if using kratom enhances the experience with opiates or if it raises your tolerance to them. I have seen multiple threads on this site arguing both sides.
In my experience, kratom seems to prevent opiates from working properly. Does anybody think kratom would potentiate (make more powerful) opiates if taken in a high dose but interfere at a lower dose? My experience aside, this forum has two very strong and opposing arguments.
Thanks

It's both dose dependent and down to personal preference whether you'll like the synergy of kratom and "classical" opioids. The stimulating adrenergic effects of mitragynine should (at least on paper) increase analgesia somewhat but decrease the sedative/relaxant/"nodding" effects. So if you're taking kratom and expecting it to alter the experience the same way a strongly sedating e.g. antihistamine would, you'll be disappointed. Kind of like combining opioids with caffeine.

I've read claims that people think kratom has opioid antagonist alkaloids in it, but they don't hold up to scrutiny (alkaloids with weak antagonist effects that are less than 1% of total alkaloids do not seem likely to override the activity of established, stronger agonists at larger milligram doses). The fact that some of the more concentrated extracts of kratom are rather potent opioids kind of makes this a grand claim anyway.

Of course using kratom, an opioid, on a regular basis will make your opioid tolerance go up somewhat, although given the relative strength of powdered leaf kratom, you need to eat large amounts on a regular basis before you get anything near an oxycodone or heroin habit. I'm talking upwards of 30, 40 grams a day in multiple divided doses.

Me personally, I have had no issue combining oxycodone (10-20mg plugged or oral) and kratom (various strains, 8-10g dried powdered leaf, toss and wash) on the few occasions I had both. It seemed to work well enough, but like I said, somewhat decreased the sedative qualities of the oxy.
