I'm not much of a cigarette smoker but I have noticed that whenever I take Kratom and then smoke that first cigarette drastically changes the effects from stimulating/euphoric to depressant/euphoric. Has anyone else experienced a large increase in the depressant(opiate) effects of kratom after smoking a cigarette? If so what do you think is behind it or any synergy between other opiates and nicotine?

As soon as I read OP's post I immediately though of a time when I took kratom, was feeling it start to come up, smoked a cig and it basically killed the kratom's effects. Or at least that's the connection I'm making now. Seems to make more sense then feeling the kratom come up and then be over in under 20 minutes.

I know when im on heroin after i smoke a cig it kind of makes me nod a lttle bit harder/again. Not sure if this helps.

I just joined this forum so I could resurrect this ancient thread from the depths. I just figured I'd inject my experiences in case anyone involved is still interested. So yesterday and today I drank a good amount of kratom tea, and had a clove cigarette. Yesterday it was about 4 hours after drinking the tea, and I didn't think much of it. I smoked the clove and immediately got super nauseous, and it totally ruined my lunch break and I couldn't even enjoy my delicious pizza.

Today I had a bunch of kratom in the morning before work, and on my walk to the train station, just as the effects were basically peaking and I was feeling real good and looking forward to a warm, fuzzy day at work, I lit a clove and smoked it. It was the strongest I've ever felt nicotine. Then, about 5 minutes after the cig, I suddenly felt a dramatic shift from the normal hyper/numb/good-mood kratom buzz to a sweaty, dizzy, nauseous, unpleasant downer thing. Totally killed the good time.. AND, once the nicotine wore off, the kratom buzz was completely gone! Within about an hour, the kratom came and went. Usually it lasts about 6 hours or more. Ruined my day. I blame the nicotine. And I was happy to see somebody here had the same experience.

Must be that nicotine potentiates and changes the kratom so that it hits hard, spirals out, and gets used up by the body/brain real quick. That's my uneducated guess.

MORAL: Never again will I smoke after kratom, and neither should you.
