I have to ask people though:

WHY do you all think that the DEA just decided to "temporarily" schedule Kratom??

The only explanation I've heard is to try not to "upset" people too much and then announce that it's permanent later but I'm not sure I buy that because why would the DEA really care that much about upsetting Kratom users?

Such a small percentage of the population even knows what it is let alone uses it.

And the saddest thing about it is that unlike more popular drugs like weed, shrooms, LSD, and harder drugs I don't use like Meth, Heroin, etc...Kratom never had enough time to gain enough popularity before it's banning to ever be likely to be available on the street afterwards.

All those other drugs had time to gain solid enough followings that after they were made illegal they continued to available due to demand.

It's a pretty sinister move by the DEA--Nip it in the bud BEFORE Kratom becomes popular so that it will vanish almost entirely from Western society.

I HEARD that Thailand decided to remove it from scheduling perhaps in response to what the U.S. did, citing that the war on drugs has failed.

IF so that's an AMAZINGLY open minded move and I would applaud them.

Is there any truth to that rumor???

If so, I wanna go to Thailand lol.

It is because they have a meth-addict epidemic there and Kratom as a soft drug can be used to wean you off of it. It is the much lesser evil. In that regard Kratom is really a superb substance cocktail, as it can be used for opiate and stimulant wd likewise. If one does not intend to imitate the effects of other drugs then Kratom is really a medicine on par with cannabis (considering the absence of the need of processing it contrarily to many other plants).

I've read some post that quitting Kratom for only a week resets tolerance. Can anyone tell me if it is really that quick? I know with traditional opiates, it can take months to lower tolerance. I'm just curious what other's experience with this has been. I am taking a break until this weekend and wonder if my tolerance will be lowered that quickly. Thanks!

Depends on the dosage. If you never took more than say 8g/day, then after a week your tolerance will be reset (perceptively) completely.

If you take higher dosages, the period of abstinence should be longer.

Can I ask, - if you had a 30 gram per day Kratom habit - lasting almost 4 years, the majority of that period at a lower level, somewhere around 15 grams per day, having ramped up lately. Would you taper or CT?

I'm in Canada so I'll still have access for the time being, but I can sympathize with all my friends south of the border in for a rough ride if you're forced to quit using.

I hate it now, I get no pleasure from it, just have to take it every 4 or 5 hours or I start feeling WD's. I literally cannot remember what it feels like to wake up in the morning without WD symptoms starting to kick in.

I got laid off a couple months ago so I don't have to work. Broke up with my GF a month ago and am in a place where I don't really know anyone all that shit kind of magnifies the negatives of being on Kratom to me, compared to when things were going better in life. I went a little over 24 hours without it, about a month back and it was really rough, mentally mostly - world seems so bleak, I failed to stick to it. But I just feel like my life is becoming drug addicted bullshit, I'd love to go travel and do something cool shake up my life a bit but I'm tied to the leaf. Like I'm 30 now it's just ridiculous to keep going with this.

I've been tapering a bit, and honestly, I find that even a really shallow taper, like a gram or less per day - I just feel a low level crappy feeling all the time. Nothing like major suffering, but just enough to make it not really enjoyable to do much. I don't know whether I'd rather go through that for a month, or just fucking CT and sit around crying and writhing around for a few days or however long it takes and be done with it. I find the mental aspect just so hard to get over. My optimism for life is pretty weak at times as a guy taking 30G/day of kratom, I'm worried things'll get really scary after a couple days of WD

First try to taper off for a few weeks, then buy some stem & vein powder and WD's will be a piece of cake

I am currently taking methadone 10mg 2 tabs a day & xanax 1mg a half in morning & half @ night & have been taking the xanax since 1994. I use to take a lot more than I am now. Is the kratom gonna help me with the WD's or should I taper down on the xanax? I was told if I went cold turkey off xanax it could kill me. Can someone please give me some advise on what I should do? Really would appreciate any help of info I can get. Thank you.

I live in Florida & I just bought some Kratom on Saturday from a smoke shop & I asked the store clerk if it was going to be banned by the end of the month & he said not that he is aware of & he showed me the large amount he has to sell so I'm not sure if it is gonna be banned or not. The Idea can't stand that Kratom helps drug users & there scared its gonna take profit from the pharmaceutical. Its insane if you ask me.

It is definitely going to be banned for at least 3 years due to emergency scheduling. After that, the DEA will revisit the issue. Hopefully, it will end up like the ephedrine ban and pass once the emergency scheduling has expired. Doubt it, but possible.

The kratom will slightly alleviate the methadone wd symptoms, it will not help xanax wds..

Yeah it is gone. Shouldn't be hard to get on the black market tho, it's legal in Indonesia and canada, ect.. I wouldn't think it would cost much more on the black market. Suboxone is still gonna be cheaper though, as it is now, per mg equivalency.

Do you think it's popular enough to actually make it to the black market? I just can't see ppl "dealing" Kratom. I think I'm just gonna have to accept its gone (for a long time anyway).
Is Kava any good? How does it compare to Kratom? I want to find something else legal I'm happy with because I REALLY don't wanna go back to f*ing oxy. ?

Sorry but he sounds clueless.

It's going to be banned unfortunately and if I were you I'd tell him to look it up online so he doesn't get arrested.
