Kratom is my absolute favorite drug of all drugs, yes ALL drugs, for many reasons. It is an amazing plant with mountains of benefits with MINIMAL price to pay monetarily, mentally and physically.
For the alcohol withdrawals, I can see kratom fixing nearly everything. It will ease your physical pain, it will ease your anxiety and depressive symptoms, and even will produce a euphoria of all it's own, which I feel is better than any drink or benzo I've ever had! On mornings after nights of heavy drinking, even when I wake up with a wicked hangover AND have to go to work, a nice stiff glass of kratom has me smiling and bounding out the door to take on the day! Just be careful with frequency on kratom, as it can be fairly psychologically addicting. There should be no problem dosing a couple times a week, taking weeks off here and there, etc.. However, if you're like me, and you start to LOVE how kratom sets your life in order, it will be hard to find reasons NOT to dose up every day. Even so, the "withdrawal" is a joke, is 95% mental, and subsides within a couple days, unlike opiate withdrawals which can last months from what I've read.
Kava, as mentioned above, will definitely aid in easing the GABA-specific issues your having, curb anxiety, relax you at the end of the day, help you sleep, etc.. It also is a lovely combination on top of kratom. It will discourage alcohol consumption as well because kava+alcohol is an awful combination.
Kratom in the morning before work, maybe a booster around lunch time if you're feelin' that way, and then a nice heap of kava when you arrive home, maybe a another kava before bed. You'll be right as rain! You won't have to worry about hurting yourself either, because both herbs are pretty much completely harmless to our bodies and brains when used responsibly, whereas alcohol and benzos are absolutely terrible for you.
Good luck, it sounds like you're on the right track!! Keep us updated.
