Kratom experiences?

Hi there! I suffer from migraines occasionally and have recently decided that my continued use of hydrocodone is not a good idea. I have no physical dependence and I'm quitting while I'm ahead, since I know that opiates can be a troublesome path to go down.

Recently I have heard about kratom and how it is apparently a very good opiate substitute. A friend of mine claims that he used it to nullify the pounding headaches he got from quitting caffeine and that it was very effective.

I'm thinking of ordering some capsules and I just wanted to know from those of you who have tried it, how is it? Is it an effective pain reliever? How is the high?

Thanks.

I tried the powdered kratom extract a long time ago. I cant really put a finger on the effects exactly. For me it definitely did not compare to hydrocodone or any opiate for that matter. It gave me no experience that was even close to opiates. More like a head change and a tiny feeling of serenity or calmness.

Most people say that bulk powdered/crushed leaf is better than capsules, that the capsules are overpriced and not usually great quality. The effects of kratom vary depending on the person, the type/strain of kratom, the quality of the kratom, and your tolerance to opioids. I didn't find it to do much for me but I have a really high opioid tolerance, and I didn't try many different sources for the kratom so it could also have been shitty quality. Some people find it a great opioid replacement.

There is a TON of info on kratom on these boards. Here is a good thread to check out:

You can use the search engine to find more threads about kratom. You are also welcome to make a post in the kratom megathread if there are any questions you have that haven't been covered.

Some people do find kratom effective for pain. I have definitely heard of people using it successfully for migraines. Just be aware that like hydrocodone or any opioid, kratom can cause headaches as well, particularly if you take too much. And note that you can get a physical dependence to kratom, so try not to take it too frequently.

Swimmingdancer is right bulk wholesale of the natural product is the best way. Extracts of kratom may not be full spectrum like most people think they are and only contain a few isolated alkaloids. With the leaf or powdered leaf you know you are getting everything kratom has to offer. A high dose of kratom for a newcomer would most certainly cure a lot of things including craving for opiates. Unless you're slamming heroin or something extreme.

I don't recommend kratom for recreational use but having experience in using the substance I find extracts to be very un balanced and ineffective. Plain leaf is way more effective. The extract I tried just made me sick and gave me that serenity feeling you speak of.
