Everytime I open a container with powdered kratom in it there is a bunch of powder that spews forth into to atmosphere. I try not to breath it in but sometimes I get a nice lungful of dust, should this cause any health problems? I always make sure to breath in deeply then exhale once the powder is dampened by some water when doing a toss and wash. Could this powder cause infections or any sickness in the respiratory system?

yes it can cause an infection the warning signs will be cough wheezing, shortness of breath, etc. if you have these symptoms an infection is probabley on your way. i am a daily user of kratom and it used to happen to me if i was de stemming and grinding crused leaf the atmosphere would be filled with kratom dust. in my experience i let my bag of kratom settle in one spot and then handle it cafefully so it doesnt get tossed around making the dust fly. hope that helps!

You would have to inhale a lot of kratom to get an infection... or have a weak immune system. Your lungs have to be pretty damaged to get infected, or be purposefully inoculated with bacteria/fungus. Most kratom I've seen is dried and I doubt it has stuff like pneumonia on it after being dried with heat. It's more likely just a lung irritant like so many other fine dusts.

The vendor I use is fairly popular and have said they lab test every batch for contaminants. I trust this is true because the kratom has yet to cause me any problems. my brother just recently got a respiratory infection and I made me wonder.
