Im sry if this has allready been answered before in some past thread but I swear on my grandmothers grave that I searched for a long time for the answer and just could not find it. If, for some reason, it HAS allready been answered, I apologize for starting an un-needed thread and I will work hard on increasing my "search" skills. Anyway.....

I was wondering if the effects of Kratom would be blocked by the bupernorphine in suboxone? Im pretty sure both drugs activate seperate opiate receptors in your brain(i.e. kratom works as a partial agonist on the mu-opiate receptor and possibly the delta....but im pretty sure bupe doesnt utilize either of those, allthough I could be wrong....and if I am, please correct me, politely:) ) I was wondering this because I have yet to try kratom and I recently came into a small amount of cash and was going to go to my local head shop and purchase some form of kratom. But I was worried because I take anywere from 0.5 - 1.5mg's/day of suboxone and wasnt sure if that was going to completely block kratoms effects....meaning, I woudl have wasted my money.

Any answers/help is greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.

Kratom's euphoric properties, for me, were completely blocked by suboxone. Even really high doses had no affect but a little stomach upset.

Thanks for the response. It seems your the ONLY one who has ever doses kratom while on suboxone.

Allthough im curious.....you said it blocked all the euphoric properties of kratom......im wondering what dose of suboxone you were on..

....because most people say that there suboxone blocks out all opiates, but most people are on a 16-32mg dose. I, on the other hand, only take 0.5mg doses and can take opiates anytime I want and usually feel almost all of there effects, if not 100%.

I guess im not only wondering how people felt when they took kratom while on suboxone, im really curious as too if the suboxone actually chemically blocks the kratom from binding to your brain and getting you "buzzed". Because like I said, I think both kratom and suboxone activate seperate opiod receptors in the brain, meaning the suboxone wouldnt be able to block the effects of the kratom. its just im not sure if im right so I need some more experienced advice.

thanks again

Well if you feel opiates while on suboxone, then kratom should be the same.

I was on 2mg of suboxone a day, split into four .5mg doses like you do, and I didn't feel anything from kratom, or hydrocodone as well.

Well, yes I do feel opiates while on suboxone, but the opiates I do are heroin and oxycodone. I was worried that since kratom is obviously much less potent than these opiates, it would be much more effected(or "blocked") by the suboxone.

Kratom won't break through sub at any dose, kratom has a hard enough time "breaking through" a regular opiate. I don't mean that a regular opiate will block it, I mean that kratom does so little to an opiate addicted brain in the first place, that you won't feel it either way.

Its like trying to take kanna on kratom, kratom blocks kanna. Its not that they actually block one another, its that the effects from one override the other, making it near impossible to tell you're on the weaker substance.

Im actually not an opiate addict. In fact my tolerance to opiates is very small. I only take TINY doses of suboxone, and ive been doing this for such a long time that I have noticed that whenever I do take a full agonist, I feel the effects of it as if I were just starting to take opiates in the very beginning. you know...like I was a newby. I also am not addicted to my suboxone doses, i just take them because of the euphoria, energy boosts, and anti-depressant properties. I have gone up to 15 days without taking my suboxone dose and never had any withdrawal symptoms.
Now that you know all that, do you think your answer might change? Or will I still feel no effects from Kratom?

Well first off familiarize yourself with the basic neuropharmacology at work here. You state kratom works on the mu opiate receptor and possibly the delta. This much is true. But buprenorphine exerts its primary effect as a mu agonist believe it or not and I can guarantee you it has a much higher binding affinity than does mitragynine or 7-hydroxymitragynine. But you also state repeatedly (in a charmingly defensive fashion;) ) that you can take full agonists and feel their full effects while on buprenorphine. Almost everyone (if you use the search engine) reports feeling no effects from kratom while on buprenorphine. But you may be the exception. :)

Good luck, be safe

I hope I am the exception. Allthough, I might just decide not to buy any kratom after all. I dont feel a need to get high off of anything anymore so if I might be wasting my money, I wont bother.

"charmingly defensive"?....whats defensive about stating a fact about my body? Im pretty sure ANYONE can feel full agonists while taking only 0.5mg doses of bupe. Try not to be so "charmingly disrespectful" next time, sarcasm is never needed.

I think this was sufficiently and appropriately answered so I'd like to cut this off before it devolves into a ridiculously pointless and semantic argument on the meaning of "charmingly defensive".
