Hi

I’m on an extremely high amount of Dilaudid- 4 mg every 4 hours. My Dr is telling me that later down the road he will put me on subuxone which I don’t want to due to the awful time coming off of that drug. I’d like to taper my Dilaudid dose quicker than the Dr knows so that I won’t have to take Subuxone. Does anyone know how to use Kratom for this purpose please? I’m freaking out because I really really don’t want subuxone. Please help.

I really can’t help with any info on Kratom but I also would be interested in hearing about using it to taper from opiates/opioids. I do think it is wise to start a taper before telling your doctor because in my experience if you tell your Doctor they will put you on “there” scheduled taper which might not be adequately comfortable for you in particular; everyones body and mental condition does not react the same. What works fine for one individual does not necessarily work fine for another. Also you should be able to keep your supply of meds at a decent amount so you would not have to worry as much about running low, it gave me certain peace of mind knowing that I wasn’t restricted to a doctors so called adequate amount of meds. I hope that made sense to you. Good luck.

Thank you!! I hope we can both get answers ton to this!
I used kratom to get off a fairly high daily oxycodone habit. I quit the oxys completely, no taper, and used a red variety. I had almost no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever.

There's plenty of info online about kratom for getting off opioids. Red vein is generally recognized as best for that purpose. The strain or place of origin is less important-- some say the labels are meaningless. I've had good results from Maeng Da

I'm not the one to ask RE opoid withdrawal, but personally clonidine did help clear the "head fog". Hope you get some good answers. And good luck!

As mentioned above, I cannot.

But I always buy my kratom at local shops and I research the companies online as well. I've settled on a couple of brands that I've found to be consistent in quality, claim to be organic & 3rd party tested, and have predominantly positive reviews.

Also, I always use powdered kratom, not extracts, and I prefer capsules so that I can easily keep track of how much I'm taking.

Kratom is definitely habit-forming. However, it is somewhat self-limiting in dosage because larger doses cause unpleasant side effects without an increase in perceived benefits. And kratom withdrawal symptoms are nowhere near as bad as with most other addictive drugs.
