I did a quick search and didn't see this currently discussed anywhere. I haven't gotten a chance to look at the data in this paper yet but it seems that mitragynine may be enhancing cortisol synthesis and release through upregulation of the CYP 11b enzyme, this may account for some of the lethargy that people feel during withdrawal

Edit: actually I just realized these both appear to be posters and data does not seem to be available yet

I wonder if this is due to some direct interaction with one of the cortisol biosynthetic enzymes.

If not I wonder if this effect can be generalized to some of its major pharmacological targets.

I hope that work gets fully published; meeting abstracts are such a tease.

And I would be remiss to forget to say, I hope they do an animal study and have doses of mitragynine that reflect a kratom user's dosing.

Would that be why you have so much anxiety panic attack when tapering and in withdrawal ? I had panic attacks and was not even worried about anything . Heart racing , trembling , hot , cold out of no where .
