So kratom IS a opioid after all ? Cause saying that on reddit would get me banned literallyKratom is an Opioid. More specifically, Kratom is a plant that contains alkaloids that act as Opioid Receptor Agonists in the human body. I don't know how versed you are, but in short, everything that you know about Heroin or Morphine or Fentanyl applies analogously to the usage of Kratom. People use Kratom for its Opioid alkaloids. The most-well-known and studied of these is Mitragynine and its metabolites like 7-Hydroxymytragynine.
This would have made a lot more sense to people who grew up in a world where Codeine was still quite common as an OTC medicine. I understand Codeine is still used extensively in some places, but in the United States, Codeine has been a controlled substance since, I believe, the Harrison Act of 1914. In practically everywhere else around the world, it would have been and still may be common to get stuff like Co-Codamol or other brands containing Acetaminophen and a small amount of Codeine. It would have been far more common for a household to have a Codeine product just sitting around as they might Dextromethorphan (DXM) cough syrup.
In that era, there were very few people who died from taking too much Co-Codamol. It was generally pretty safe and the Acetaminophen was a soft deterrent toward abuse. Now, that doesn't mean that, a guy, after a night of heavy drinking, let's say 10 drinks or more over the course of an evening, who maybe takes a Benzodiazepine for one reason or another at the bar, wanders home and takes some Co-Codamol to top himself off wouldn't die. ]
In short, weaker Opioids are generally pretty safe, but that doesn't mean they can't be a "straw breaking the camel's" back for an unsuspecting user. I believe that this is probably, totally possible with Kratom, just as it would be with something like Codeine tablets. It's good to maintain some caution.

Thanks for the information , i hope kratom stays legal .
