I remember like, maybe 2+ years ago some Aussie posted a really funny commercial of some koala sanctuary where you could hold/ take your picture with koalas in the Lounge. It was funny because of the over-the-topness of the accent. DOES SOMEONE REMEMBER THIS COMMERCIAL? HALP!

INB4CLOSE.

Currumbin??
Featherdale??
Australia Wildlife Park??
Australia Zoo??

I have no recollection of this commercial but those are a few distinct possibilities :)

lol L2R. It was almost as if an American was trying an Australian accent. Seriously though. I thought it might be Lone Pine but couldn't find the video. I think the majority of the sanctuaries/zoos do not allow people to actually hold the koalas so this place was particularly 'special'. I swear I'm not crazy. <3 :)

you can hold a koala at taronga zoo (the zoo in sydney overlooking the harbour), so it really isn't unique.

i'd wager this to be an ad only shown in the states or overseas.

the joke wouldn't work here
cuz no one would get it

being as how we all talk like that

all the time

I know it's illegal to hold koalas in parts of Australia so that kinda slims down the possibilities (even if a tiny bit). It was definitely meant for AUS audiences. I don't think it was meant to be funny. Not like an Outback commercial or anything. :| It was funny in the same way any American crappy super excited commercial is. Please don't think I'm so American and oblivious to the rest of the world. I know what an Australian accent sounds like. ;)

just playing with you amy, in order to mask my complete ineptitude in my attempts to make you happy by finding said vid

Probably over the top for you, normal for us LOL.

Also out of curiosity. Am I the only one that can 'hear' the aussie accent on the TV? like when people tlkl to me in real life, it sounds normal but on the TV it likes woah where did you learn to talk like that?

I would say it's cause I'm so used to an american accent. But it only happens on some movies.
Doesn't really happen on TV shows like Neighbours, Home and Away and Border Security :P

Dude it's probably just the comparison of hearing two different accents next to each other. Like when you hear, say, an American accent and then an Aussie accent straight away. They are completely different and it probably makes the Aussie accent sound way more harsh! So in shows where there are only Aussie accents you don't notice the difference because, well, all the voices sound the same :D
