My dad has had shoulder surgery and got 5/525 oxycodone. And now he's getting Knee surgery and I was wondering if he would be getting anything different/higher doses. I do tend to dip into his collection since they overprescribe alot and he's one of those people who thinks a man should feel pain and deal with it that way. So basically I'm curious, these knee surgery is supposed to be urgent and very painful. Any guesses what he could end up with? I don't take opiates often because of a lack of connection but Oxycodone is my absoulute favorite drug out of everything I've tired. BTW we live in Canada if that changes anything. I hope since they just approved the generic versions of oxycontin that he will get something 15mg. But that's shooting for the stars. It takes me about 30mg to feel amazing. He's also going back for another shoulder surgery so he's going to be off work for some time now. I'm gonna try to help him out as much as I can, I know it can be difficult and painful and I'll try to make it comfortable for him. Any thoughts would help, thank you!

I mean this to come across as nonjudgmental as possible, but whatever the case may be, do not steal your dad's pain killers. I mean, I understand where you are coming from, but still, that is crossing a line.

Yeah I understand. I wait until he no longer uses the rest because he does the same as me and starts using them recreationally so why not start sharing? haha I would never just take them when they are in in need.

I used to do this all the time and it still brings back a tinge of guilt every time I think about it.

What a cunt I used to be.

I agree, at least wait till he doesn't take them anymore, he may need them later on or something else.

but on the other hand, I wouldn't expect 15mg doses just yet. he sounds like a hard working man who obviously can handle pain, Not an addict or someone with years of pain management lol. i'd expect up to 10mgs of oxy or maybe 20-30mg of morphine per sae. by that third surgery (if it is close enough in time to the other surgerys) he might have something a little stronger.
-just wait till that 3rd surgery to start taking his knee meds (if he is done with them), then wait for him to stop taking his shoulder meds.

p.s.- I hope this helps, cause I feel like crap for giving you this advice lol

Chances are they'll give him the same prescription. I'd be surprised if the dose was upped any.

The bigger point here is we can't give you an answer to this question. We're just guessing. And, echoing what other posters have said, please don't steal your father's pain medication. Post-operative pain can be quite intense, chances are he needs (and will need) at least some of the prescription they give him.

I'm going to close this thread. I don't see any point in us guessing what your father is going to be prescribed.
