Hello guys,

A friend of mine took 10mg Valium the other day with some weed, he felt good until he took roughly 6-8mg of Klonopin. From that point on he pretty much got more and more illiterate and tired and this has been going on since 6 hours. After 2 hours of ingesting he pretty much fell asleep. Is there something wrong or did he just OD a little? He does respond to pain (even though it's still mumbling) and answers some questions when asked (yelled) 10 times.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like a benzo blackout but in the spirit of harm reduction if you think he needs medical attention get him some.

Don't let him drink more alcohol. Drive. Take more pills Ect.

Well he hasn't puked or anything and he hasn't drunk anything either. He sure as hell isn't taking any pills anymore either. I'm just worried that something might be wrong as when his parents would find out about this... Bad shit will happen, they just think he's still very high from weed.

So nothing will happen I hope? Sorry for the double post but I'm just worried how long this'll last.

I think he'll be fine. Klonopin (Clonazepam) has a long half life so he might not feel sober until sometime tomorrow.

He'll be fine. I'd keep an eye on him though if his breathing slows down to where it seems like hes in respretory depression dont think twice about taking him to a medical center. Unfortantly ive seen someone breathing so slow it sounded like it was gonna stop, we took him they gave him flumazenil and he was fine. he will prolly feel pretty crappy tomorrow. Good luck man : )

Has he taken anything apart from weed and benzos (Klonopin, diazepam etc)? I see he's not been drinking, that's good as that would make this a lot more concerning..

Benzodiazepines alone are surprpsingly safe in OD - your friend will most likely just sleep for quite a long time then feel pretty spaced out for a bit longer due to clonazapam's long half-life (18-50 hours). 6-8mg is a lot of clonazepam so I'm not surprised this happened, how much does he usually take?

If you know the recovery position now would be a good time to try it out! The main danger comes from him vomiting in his sleep and choking on it, and this minimises the risk. If you don't know it, don't have him on his back, have him on his side and sit with him. I would also recommend counting his breathing to make sure it doesn't dip below 12/minute.

If his breathing dips, if he starts to vomit or if he has taken any other downers I'm afraid you guys need to get him some medical help ASAP.

Unfortunately things may be noticible to his mother as he will likely still be benzo'd when he wakes up so don't hesitate to get help if you need it, it won't make things worse and his mum (and him!) will definitely appreciate it if he does need it!

Good luck! Hope he wakes up soon.

Last time I took like 10mg of klonopin with no tolerance I was fucked up for like 4 days, I dont remember any of it. I was awake tho. So i'm not too worried about ur friend. And yea benzo's are difficult to od on by themselves

6-8mgs of kpin is much, much more than 10mgs of valium. conversion charts say 10mg valium=.5mg of kpin. i'd say 10mg of valium≈.75mg of kpin. your friend just took too much. like effie said, benzos by themselves tend not to be too toxic.

hopefully things with his parents go alright. i am going to close this. any questions as to why, give me a PM.
