I'm currently taking 60 MG of baclofen and 1mg of klononopin per day for the past two months I've been drinking 12_18 beers per day would the medication prevent alcohol withdrawal or do I need to taper

The alcohol is the last thing you have to worry about.. You can most likely just stop drinking with only a few boring days to put up with.

So you think the klononopin and baclofen would prevent serious alcohol withdrawal if I went cold turkey off the beer

As someone who has been on both of those and also baclofen a decent amount, yeah.. Like I said, you may be bored and mentally feel like you need to booze to get through your day, but I highly doubt if it's been 2 months on booze that you'll be shaking, sweating and hallucinating from cutting out the box of beer per day..

I'd be most worried about that Baclofen..

It took serious hard drinking for a few years to get the shakes for me. As laika posted, I would be more worried about the klonpin. It is a deceptively strong medicine with a very long half life. Taper down on that.

I agree with the others here, tapering a little bit would definitely help. The alcohol you shouldn't have to worry much about, it will probably be more of a mental kick from that. And The kpin dose your on isn't that high but the duration of your use of kpins might put you at risk. Same with the baclofen...
When I was in college a buddy of mine got me started on baclofen, and I remember it more of a mental kick than physical also. But again with the duration of the kpins and Bac, don't go cold turkey. Very well could be physical and WILL be a mental struggle... Good luck man

Thanks for the advice I think I'm going to try cold turkey on the alcohol I've quit in the past with just a little anxiety and about a week of sleepless nights never any shaking or seizures my doctor has me 3 more refills of baclofen and klonopin for my neurological condition if my condition improves he will set up a taper schedule for the meds hopefully the medication will ward off any alcohol withdrawal symptoms
