I am taking 60mg of baclofen and 1mg of klononopin per day for a neurological condition for the last 2 months I have been drinking 12-18 beers per day would the medication prevent withdrawal if I quit alcohol or do I need to taper

start tapering. dont kill yourself with alcohol. Im watching my uncle do this right now. He drinks the same 12-18 beers a day.

I know benzos help with alcohol withdrawl. You might have a tolerance though and need a decent benzo dose for preventing the seizures or whatever is related to alcohol withdrawl. I think you have the power to change what you are doing. Try to preoccupy your time and focus on good things and what you have. Life is worth living. I

IF YOU JUST WANNA GET HIGH TIL YOU DIE, LOOK AROUND HERE ON BLUELIGHT. THERE ARE LOTS MORE SUBSTANCES THAT ARE A LOT MORE FUN AND A LOT LESS RISK. TRY PSYCHADELLICS, THEY WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE AND POSSIBLY RID YOU OF YOUR HEAVY ALCOHOL ADDICTION.

BTW im not raggin on you, I am an alcoholic. Im drinkin a cidre right now. I cut down my beer intake to 2-6 beers a day and I feel great. Somedays I dont drink, somedays I drink one.

I definitely want to quit the alcohol I was just curious if the medication would prevent withdrawal if not would a taper of 12,10,8,6,4,2,0 be too fast

I think that's too fast if you're saying one day at each. I would do a few days, drop, wait a few more days, drop. There's not much to be gained by going too fast, alot to lose.

I beg to differ, I don't see your alcohol consumption as ER, seizures, or Korsakoff syndrome material, nothing will happen even if you go cold turkey, that's if you can, I couldn't. As someone else said get some benzos too from an outpatient clinic.

I 've been sober for a year and half or so. You might want to raise the bac to 90 mg as well, from studies 60 mg is rather low to be effective, although it might work with you, no dosage is golden to achieve the famed indifference with bac, it's a very individual thing.

Good luck.
