For almost 4 years I had taken Klonipin, generically called Clonazepam. First I took 1mg a day, at night. Then I started taking more than I needed, drinking heavily and passing it out to friends. Over 4 years I saw several Doctors and a psychiatrist to obtain more of the drug, and to never risk running out. By the beginning of this year I was taking at least 16mg a day. (no typo) I had a prescription from the original Dr. for 4mg (2x 2mg) a day, another for 6mg a day (3x2mg) and from a psychiatrist (4x 2mg). I staggered the prescriptions throughout the month and never ran out, I was hooked bad. The pharmacy I went to with the shrink's script went out of business in may, and I got my last script from my shrink in June, I had to be careful and not take it to the wrong pharmacy(where they may know I had two other scripts). I held onto the script for a while and eventually decided to take it to Safeway. The mistake I made was giving them a County discount card I had been using with all 3 prescriptions(I wanted a discount because I have no insurance) Long story short, the pharmacy tech at Safeway was suspicious when she got such a large script (120 2mg tablets, 2 refills) She started making phone calls, using the discount card she found out and told every prescribing Dr, every pharmacy, everyone. I started getting calls from the Doctor's offices. THey refused to see me, refused to help me get off, anything. The shrink called me just to tell me I screwed myself. He would't help, it was my responsibility to get myself to the ER if I was in bad shape. I definitely was. I went to the ER, they gave me 9 50mg librium pills. I took between 10 and 15 2mg klonipin a day for the last 4 years. So while these librium DID NOT help me feel any sembalance of normal, I think they may have kept me from having a seizure. I made it through somehow, never taking another Benzo since June 20th, but I still feel withdrawl symptoms, almost 4 months later. I was hoping some people may have experiences with Klonipin withdrawl, maybe something that could help. How long should I really expect to feel like this? And I know nobody has probably taken nearly this much klonipin, but anybody successfully get off after taking a high amount for a long time? Thanks.
