crystalcallas, i agree. Asians do have incredibly good skin. As do people of mixed black and white heritage, I've noticed (many Latinos, then). I've heard it said that people from Northern Europe have far and away the world's worst skin, in terms of resistance to the sun's rays, resistance to bruising and injury, and retention of elasticity, and that these populations are the most seceptable to pretty much all skin ailments.
So what evolutionary advantage does thin, fragile, pasty skin have? Well... if you eat a grain-based diet and live in a place that has very dark winters, this kind of skin does make vitamin D easier.
