Ketamine + Xanax... felt nothing?

Me and a friend both tried Ketamine for our first time today. We took 1mg xanax each because we were really nervous about it. So anyway, we snorted about 150 mg each, waited a while, felt more sedated than just the xanax would cause, and we felt the respiratory depression that Ketamine causes. But we saw absolutely nothing... isn't 150mg supposed to put you into a k-hole? We each weigh about 130 pounds too, and I've done my research about it and this should have been enough. Did we snort it wrong maybe? (this is the first drug we've snorted) Did the xanax dim it down that much? We pretty much felt nothing other than being kinda sedated and breathing slowly, which could have just been the xanax. I am pretty sure it wasn't bunk either, it looked real and had the little crystals, and i got it through a good friend of mine. I'm not sure, anyone know what happened?
 
I would think that you would feel more than a little more sedated from 150mg of K. It may have been heavily cut. Next time just have the benzo on hand in case you need it, don't go into it thinking you need to take it.
 
Dissocatives (nmda-antagonists) and benzos don't mix very well imo, as the benzos are going make the ketamine experience harder to remember as well as reduce the desired psychedelic effects. When ketamine is used in anesthesia, a benzo hypnotic like midazolam is used to limit the occurrence of psychotropic effects that are reported when reemerging from anesthesia, and being induced. NMDA-antagonist already interfere with the bodies ability to form and retain new memories, and GABA-A modulation via benzodiazepines also has negative effects on ones memory. The combination of the two is seen commonly to diminish the "psychedelic" effects desired, but increase the sedation as well as the potential memory loss/amnesia. Also, ketamine does not have any significant respiratory depression at all, especially at recreational doses. Ketamine is used in some emergency surgery's that need special care to not cause any extra respiratory depression, because of this ability at anesthetic doses. The feeling of respiratory depression from ketamine is I 99% guarantee you to be in your head.

150mg of ketamine is a decent dose, enough to give you a medium to medium high intensity experience, so I put my money on the xanax reducing the desire effects you are looking for. Generally ketamine isn't as commonly cut as other street drugs due to it's large availability from over seas as pure ketamine. Majority of it will be pretty much pure, so dealers are less likely to cut. I'd try a lower dose with out the xanax to see if you are comfortable with the ketamine alone. If you are, go for a higher dose. A lot of individuals find it to be anxiolytic unlike psychedelics like LSD or mushrooms that can easily cause anxiety, so maybe you will have no issue.

Also, I think the no mixing with other depressants with ketamine is kinda BS. Barbiturates you need to becareful because of the low theraputic index associated with barbiturates, but combining with benzos aren't going to cause any respiratory depression to be concerned of. This is commonly done at doses for both drugs higher than what would be used for recreation. Opioids wouldn't be an issue really either unless you are already taking such high doses, or extremely potent opioids (fent or analogues), which would cause respiratory depression with-out ketamine in the mix. If there are already some respiratory depression going on with another drug, there is a very, very small chance of ketamine increasing it, but you should be worried about the fact that you already have respiratory depression happening...
 
If you don't think that street K is cut you are kidding yourself. Trust me, from someone who has been seeing this stuff at concerts and festivals for years, theres is plenty of cut K.
 
im completely sure it wasn't cut, and it wasn't street k. I got it from a girl whose boyfriend works at a vet clinic, and she cooks up the ketamine herself. I guess they could've cut it but i doubt it. But i guess i'll try a slightly higher dose without the benzo next time. I got the gram for $80 dollars, how much does a gram usually cost?
 
I'm not saying it can't be cut and never said it couldn't. I said it wasn't commonly cut with the way the ketamine market works. A good portion of ketamine at least in the united states (only place I have experience in) is brought in by individuals spreading it around through small circles. Aka a bunch of people getting in oz's to pounds, not individuals importing in kilos and kilos. This isn't the case with other black market drugs, as you can't find (or most likely wont) someone in India who is going to ship you uncut heroin to your mail box. Getting high quality ketamine can be done in this fashion by pretty much anyone with a computer. Also, buying drugs at a night club runs the risk of being fucked over no matter what you buy. This should go with out being said. Its silly imo to compare buying ketamine at a night club or festival where dealers are expecting to sell to primarily people they do not know and will never run into again, and ketamine from a dealer in your city. If your dealer cuts his shit, than I feel terribly sorry for you, because most people don't have to deal with such bullshit.
 
Ketamine doesn't really cause respiratory depression, it may have enhanced xanax's effects though. But yes other than that benzo's very much blunt the experience.
