Ketamine - First experiences - A Prelude

So the past two nights (yeah I know, twice in a row isn't a great idea) I had my first two preliminary experiences with ketamine, in order to familiarize myself with its buzz so that I might be somewhat prepared to enter the K-hole the next time I try it.

I had received 500mg of ketamine. So I divided it up by eye into two piles of 200mg and one of 100mg and put them into separate little baggies. For the first experience (Saturday night), I had ingested 150mg of 4-FMP earlier that evening and stayed up mostly reading bluelight and Erowid until about 5am. At this point, the empathy was long gone and the stimulation was mostly gone from the 4-FMP, but it's possible that the two had some sort of interaction.

Anyway, I estimated a 40mg dose by bumping tiny piles off of a pen cap. I did probably 10mg at first, then as a felt a rather plesant but strange light buzz creep over me, I bumped the rest. After a few minutes, I started to feel very strange, sort of like when you're starting to black out. My vision began to get a little gray and I began swaying in my seat, which surprised me because I thought I had done only enough ketamine to receive lighter effects than this. I soon found that I had to go lay down in my bed because I was starting to get uncomfortable. Fortunately, as soon as I laid down, I immediately felt better. I closed my eyes and had only the drone of the fan on for noise. The experience that follows was definitely vague, but more intense than I had expected. I slowly started to feel as if my awareness was centered in my head. I could still feel the rest of my body, and move it as several attempts proved, but moving or opening my eyes broke the spell, so I tried to remain completely still. I had no sensation of movement, but strange, vague patterns and unexplainable objects began to appear to me behind my closed eyes, and I started to have strange thoughts. Seeing as how I am writing this two days later, I can't really remember what my thoughts were, but they were definitely abnormal. I was hoping that by writing this I might remember some of them, but it seems that I can't. I basically felt as if I was travelling deeply but aimlessly into my mind. After an indeterminable length of time, I fell asleep, but this transition was not distinct in my mind. I only know I fell asleep because I woke up over an hour later, and then fell back to sleep because it was almost morning anyway. I woke up feeling fine and clear-headed, though not particularly positive or anything.

The next night (Sunday night), I decided to test it again, because I plan to induce a full experience this weekend and I don't really want to do it on a weeknight since I have to work every morning. This time, I insufflated 60-70mg (estimated however), all at once this time. Surprisingly fast, shockingly really, I started to feel like I was about to faint again, very strongly. After only a couple of minutes, I stood up from my chair to travel across the hall to my bedroom, and the world tilted crazily. I stumbled awkwardly to my bed and flopped down on it, nearly falling half a dozen times. It was definitely significantly stronger than I expected, and there was absolutely no way I'd have been able to do anything but lay down with my eyes closed for this. As I did so, I noticed that my awaremess immediately shifted into my head, and my body felt very disproportional and strange, and I couldn't really feel it much at all. I started to feel like I was moving as a wave does in the ocean, wider and wider, until I started to feela bit of fear due to this strange sensation of motion. I opened my eyes for a moment, and it stopped, but the surrounding dark room made very little sense. it's not that it looked any different, but that my ability to perceive depth and meaning in objects was inhibited. Plus, I started to feel kind of nasty with my eyes open, so I went to closed eyes, which was an intense but pleasant feeling. What followed was another series of strange, unrememberable thoughts and slight visions, though this time the visions were much fainter, probably due to slight tolerance from the night before. The physical effects, however, were certainly much stronger. it's also possible I took less than I thought the first time, or more than I thought the second time. I really wish I could remember more of what I encountered with my eyes closed, but I just can't, as it was too abstract. I felt as if I were touching on something profound, and at moments I felt as if I was leaving my body entirely. One notable occurrence was when, at some point, my girlfriend who was sleeping next to me shifted and rolled over so that her arm and leg were draped over my body. At this point, I found it nearly impossible to differentiate between her limbs and mine, and I felt as if I was feeling the touch of skin against skin through both hers touching mine and mine touching hers. It was strange but very interesting. Again, I transitioned into sleep at some point and woke up roughly an hour later with the effects mostly gone, and then fell asleep again. This morning I woke up feeling rather groggy, but that passed as I got up and went about my day.

So that's what I've made of my first two trials with ketamine. next weekend I plan on trying to insufflate 200mg (in two increments) in order to reach the so-called K-hole, and I'm going to save the other 200 for another experiment, after the peak of some other psychedelic, of which variety I am not yet sure. I'm a little nervous because of the intensity of the second trial, and I hope that it'll be a little clearer and easier to remember when I do get there. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated, as I have only this very limited experience to guide me by.

The k hole was always extremely comfortable and wonderful for me. Just do it before bed and get comfortable. Its really easy to fall asleep after the peak, and I always woke up the next day happy and unhungover.

Have fun!

ps 70-80mg is enough for me to think myself into the hole. 200mg would have fucked with my ability to remember the experience.

excellent report xorkoth.
My only experience with ketamine so far has been while coming down from a candyflip. So my view of ketamine is a little skewed.
I cant wait to try it again someday. Sober next time, for sure.

You know, judging from my reaction to 60-70mg, I think maybe less than a full 200mg would be best for me as well.

Great report =D . My first few trials (40-60mg) were extremely similar to what you described!

Good report, definitely makes me want ketamine even more now. I love high dose DXM trips, so I really think I'd like the k-hole.

I too love dxm, and can say with some certainty, that ketamine is about a million billion times better. :)

I used to take 50 mgs IM, in the leg, and then wait a mintute and fire up 50 mgs in the vein.

very nice.

I also had a great time taking small amounts of ket while using salvia divinorum, while on DXM. this was great, very mellow, with a stable plauteau of DXM , and then the instantaneous forays into thought/transformation that smoked salvia or 10 -20 mgs of IV ketamine afforded.

ketamine is too addictive for me to keep around or search out. but sometimes it finds me.

Although for some people it's a step too far, the best way to experience ketamine is via the IM route. With no tolerance, 80mg will put you into a strange universe that there is no prepare yourself for. As long as you are sensible and use micron filters, sterile injection proceedure etc it's not too bad (I have a needle phobia and have never even considered IV, nor will I ever - the sight if needle penetrating flesh turns my stomach).

As for trying to remember what happened during the experience, pre dosing with a threshold dose of 2C-I/B/C generally helps a great deal (although you can actually take a full dose of it beforehand for a more bizzare experience - as if total sensory shutdown wasn't weird enough in the first place!).

Do watch yourself though, as ketamine does have an incredibly strong potential for psychological addiction and if you've never had experience of other drugs with similar addiction potential you might find yourself in problematic use before you even realize it (can understand above posters comment without any difficulty).

Other than that, it is a very useful drug to investigate the workings of the mind with. Different to the classic psychedelics, but equally capable of providing hugh insights (and delusions as well...)

That john Lilly character certainly prooved you can become addicted!

I felt compelled to do it after taking it nightly for a week but only about as bad as i feel like smoking pot before bed. It is something to keep in mind though, especially if you've got a sensory dep tank and a way to keep 50mg in your system every couple hours

Thanks for the tips, guys.

Yeah, I definitely have a bit of an addictive side, and I'm one of those people for whom needles are a step too far. Hell, of all the promises I've made to myself about drug use throughout my life, I've broken nearly all of them. But I have a feeling that breaking the needle barrier would definitely be too far for me. Not to mention even seeing needles makes me shudder in revulsion and fear for some reason. Unfortunately in a way as I hear ketamine is far smoother and better via the IM route.

That's great to hear about 2C-I also being a good preloader... I've heard 2C-B is a great combo, but I have no access to that. 2C-I on the other hand, I have plenty of and really don't use it very often.

I'm not too worried about addiction to ketamine, though. I do have access to more, but the process by which I can obtain it is long, annoying, and rather dangerous. So I'm confident the 400mg I have left will be it unless it finds its way to me somehow. That, and opiates and euphoric stimulants are my vice, rather than dissociatives. The only one I remotely enjoy is ketamine, it seems... DXM is probably my least favorite drug to do, as it does not agree with me whatsoever. And I can't say I'm even curious about PCP.

Ketamine is definitely best when mixed with another psychedelic. I enjoyed it with 2C-I, but definitely enjoyed it with 2C-B a whole lot more.

I also echo what fastandbulbous says about IMing ketamine, though I don't want to come off as recommending such a thing...indeed I recommend everyone stay away from drugs, drink milk, and stay in school. But in my experiences, no amount of insufflated ketamine can do what IMing it does. Totally different experiences.

Unfortunately, this is what everyone tells me. My phobia to needles is immense, and <repeat my above post>.

Too bad for me :(

But, I do know now that I won't bother K-holing (or attemting to) by itself anymore. I'll preload with 2C-I because I'd definitely like to remember more of it! Plus, I just enjoy 2C-I as it is

Firstly, great report and secondly I understand the above comment entirely. Towards the end of one night of K madness myself and two friends stood in a circle and hugged eachother, and after a while we sort of blended into one person. The same night we were sitting on the sofa (hugging again) and it felt and looked like our bodies were made of this gloopey liquid (like a lava lamp). Hot wax was dripping from our fingertips as we 'passed' it back and forth to eachother and our bodies were crashing into one another like waves. Weird. But good. I nicknamed it 'The Sea Of Bodies'.

I too had difficulty remembering the visuals I had at first, but mostly I find them to be like video game graphics. Usually people will appear to get a green film-like layer over their skin which forms in little brick shapes or honeycomb patterns. Trail lines behind moving objects is also a common one, and distorted, droopy looking faces is also a reacurring thing.

Hope some of this jogs your memory;)

Nice report.

I've never taken K with psychedelics however I find it a wholly enjoyable experience post MDMA and find memory isn't as impaired as K alone.

100mg nasally ensures a beautiful confusing ride into the "innerverse".

Thanks to those who replied. I always enjoy positive feedback on my reports!

I meant to have a 2C-E experience the other night and end it with a good 140mg insufflated ketamine, as I generally hear that taking it under the influence of other psychedelics will increase the vividness and your ability to remember the experience. I hear 2C-B is the best (or DPT actually), so I thought 2C-E would be a good choice, because for one I don't particularly want to use 2C-I again for a while because I have a hard time finding it deep or useful, and also because 2C-E itself is GREAT at providing CEVs and a deep experience.

However, I ended up falling asleep early and the timing just didn't work out to trip. Ah well. There's always next weekend.

Anyone have experience with this particular combination?
