Keith Richards has acknowledged consuming a raft of illegal substances in his time, but this may top them all.

In comments published Tuesday, the 63-year-old Rolling Stones guitarist said he had snorted his father's ashes mixed with cocaine.

"The strangest thing I've tried to snort? My father. I snorted my father," Richards was quoted as saying by British music magazine NME.

"He was cremated and I couldn't resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn't have cared," he said. "... It went down pretty well, and I'm still alive."

Richards' father, Bert, died in 2002, at 84.

Richards, one of rock's legendary wild men, told the magazine that his survival was the result of luck, and advised young musicians against trying to emulate him.

"I did it because that was the way I did it. Now people think it's a way of life," he was quoted as saying.

"I've no pretensions about immortality," he added. "I'm the same as everyone ... just kind of lucky.

"I was No. 1 on the `who's likely to die' list for 10 years. I mean, I was really disappointed when I fell off the list," Richards said.

also, thats kinda...weird...im not sure i could snort a person..but at the same time, i dont have anyones ashes lying around so maybe i'd be tempted if i did lol.
 
When I saw the title I thought there was going to be a quirky metaphor behind it, didn't expect it to be literal lol

I dunno if I believe Ketih Richards actually snorted his dad's ashes. The Stones have had some crazy times but this sounds like a publicity stunt.

Whether or not he did... hard to say. But the article says he did, and for the sake of a good laugh and shaking my head in disbelief, Ill hope its true. :)
 
AHAHAHAHHHAAAA... dude... this is the best thing I think I've ever heard about a musician!#$@ seriously... fucking awesome. I hate the rolling stones but Keith Richards is THE MAN!!

LONDON -- Keith Richards was joking when he claimed to have snorted his father's ashes along with cocaine, a spokesman said Wednesday.

"It was an off-the-cuff remark, a joke, and it is not true. File under April Fool's joke," said Bernard Doherty of LD Communications, which represents the Rolling Stones.


Doherty declined to say any more about why Richards made the statement in an interview with NME, a pop music magazine.

yeah but kicking people in the balls is funny too. but it doesnt make it right damnit! (I wonder why thats not an acceptable april fools joke?)

i guess keith just wanted to see how many people would believe it.
 
This whole subject is just lame. Who talks about snorting their fathers ashes? Joke or not, it's still stupid and in my eyes just seems like their violating the person whose ashes they are (and yes, I know the person is dead and can't speak, but you can still disrespect something that's not alive).

Whatever. This is fucking hilarious. It's a joke anyways, and I'm sure that Keith's dad could give a shit, living or dead.

Well, i dunno, but I think the man would have known his father well enought to know if this is disrespect or not. I didn't know keith richards' father, but I would imagine that his son knew him better than you did, and I wouldn't not consider it disrespect if my family or friends snorted me after I died. Hell, I'd encourage them to do it, then my earthly remains will stay with theirs for the rest of their life. Maybe they would absorb some of my soul?

I agree this would be disrespectful if it was against his father's wishes, but if it was not, than it's not any more disrespectful than harvesting organs.
