A lot of designer drugs, specifically phenethylamines and tryptamines, are in a kind of semi-legal state where lawmakers are just unaware of them or haven't gotten around to criminalizing them yet, but the laws regarding specific substances change all the time. Is there a resource that provides up-to-date information about the legal status of these chemicals, so I can know what, if any, legal ramifications I will face for being caught with them?

No there really is no set resource, at least not that I'm aware of. There is however this thread which covers the legality of RCs in the near future. Actually now that I look again that's a pretty good resource lol.
