I think sometimes it's important to go back to the sort of thing you used to do in the first few months since after a while it tends to become a bit too much of a routine. Going for nice meals together, vacations, new sex ideas...whatever to keep some kind of variety. Just make sure you keep the excitement going.
 
Just like Pagey said... keep things interesting. How did you try to impress the person when you started dating? Try some of those things again. Exciting dates. Different types of dates. Of course, sex, try some new things. Don't resort back to the same stuff you do all the time. It doesn't have to be crazy, just some different positions, or in a different location. Get your partner flowers or chocolates or something. Write a note, poem, letter, something romantic.
 
We are going on 9 years. It is important to be polite, thoughtful, and encouraging on a daily basis. No one likes to feel under appreciated.
I make a point of going out to dinner to talk about things other than running a household and suggesting new things to do together :)
I also think it is important to have your own interests and not expect your partner to enjoy them.

YES! Compliments!!! Completely agreed!!!
My bf still compliments me quite a bit. My ex stopped after the first six months(ish). Yeah... that's not good :p

^Oh yeah I'm gonna third that one...my ex stopped after about a year or a year and a half because apparently it was pointless since I 'already knew what he thought'. Bad idea. Keep the compliments flowing :D

As I said really, remember what you did in the beginning.
 
go deep deep in the mountains on top of a mountain on some rocks overlooking all the mountains and eat some mushrooms and go camping for 3 days.
