This may be weird to read but bare with me. I'm not sure what it is but whenever I go on a trip, be it mushrooms, dxm, lsa, etc. I get severely attacked by any dogs I may be around at the time. I found this odd once I noticed that the same dogs that attacked while I was on a trip were quite playful when I was around them sober. I am usually really calm and positive while tripping as well. I've also been bitten by otherwise friendly ferrets while on a trip as well. Does anyone have any input on why this may be happening?

Its easy, psychedelics bring about peoples true nature! Dogs/animals have a keen sense for this sort of thing and are sensing your real nature which is clearly not positive. The dog/ferret is only protecting its surroundings from potential danger......

^ i'm not sure how tongue-in-cheek that reply was, but safe to say I don't think anyone can really answer this question with any reasonable degree of certainty.

I have had similar experiences, but for some reason, animals (such as my pets) would come to me in a friendly manner rather than a defensive/aggressive manner. for example, my completely introverted cat who is terrified of people came up to me and kept me company for my entire comedown. its like it knew I was tripping. they are pretty damn smart, and are a lot smarter than we give them credit. they read our minds judged on our body language, and know when we are happy, sad, sick, angry, and im pretty sure when they know we are under the influence of drugs. im sure man would be the same way if we were still living in caves.

I bet, and can only imagine what it must be like tripping. id say your best bet is to just stay away from the dogs haha.

Yeah, its pretty intense peaking on dxm and getting attacked by a ferret. They are small and start doing the weasel war dance and squeak and what not. I'm just sitting on the ground deep inside my own mind while watching a ferret squeak and bite my hand.

i've always had a strange feeling, an uncertainty, if you will, when looking into a dogs' eyes. surely i would never do such a thing under the influence of dissociatives - for whatever reason this seems like a recipe for disaster. LSD or DOx though, maybe i'd feel different. fortunately this has never been a legitimate worry, or concern of mine while using any psychedelic compounds.

what can i say, i'm a weird fucker.

not trying to come off as a dick here, but that actually sounds pretty funny lol. at least in the 3rd person. strange how weird shit that you cant control happens when you trip. one time me and my buddy were peaking at 1am on a Tuesday off of 5 hits of some acid, and all of a sudden a bunch of drunk people start singing bohemian rhapsody in a bar somewhere... before and after the song, it was so quiet you could here a pin drop. later that night, there was some random big fucking tree that was out of its roots crashed over a fence. ripped up the concrete and everything. there was no storms in recent memory at the time, or no reason why this tree should have been like this.

I believe people who are tripping are more prone to fall victim to cosmic coinsidence. It's either you notice weird out of place things more while under the influence or while tripping you are more open to attract weird occurrences.

Hi tidruin89.

I hope you realize it is not only people who find your predicament rather funny, but dogs as well.
The answer is really quite simple actually. Dogs are regarded as "man's best friend". When you are
tripping, they feel put-off due to your new "best friend". Historically, a dog was a man's keener sight, his
keener sense of smell, his more acute hearing. Suddenly, you take a dose, and well, where does that leave
Fido? What you have stumbled upon is the fact that even a dog knows good psychedelics are good for more
than just watching the walls drip or cartoon hallucinations. The dogs are keeping you from the world of 'Enter
The Dog'. While you might not know you have the ability, they do. So. . . "Pup", do you learn 'The Way of The
Dog', or do you jump back stiffly erect in alarm like any other human? On acid you might be able to smell that
hydrangea from far, far away, but acid can't bite you in the fucking shin! Ha-ha-ha! Laughing Dog!

After all that. . .It is well-known that you should never approach a dog with your
hands in your pockets. Dogs love openness and honesty- unless they have been trained otherwise.
Maybe the dogs are trying to tell you to lay-off the psychedelics!

Dogs pounce on weakness, if you back away or show fear they sense it straight away and gain a lot of confidence. I suppose the extra sensitivity of psychedelics make you more jittery around them. Well I hope you meet some friendly, playful dogs on your next trip.

I don't think we really know the reasoning of the dogs for attacking you.

Animals can totally give you that "What the fuck is up with you?" look if you're acting weird. You know you're really fucked up when your own pet is giving you stink eye.

I also think that animals are really sensitive to energy and they can get a bit of a proxy high from nearby humans who are tripping. I'm not sure if that's true of dogs but it's definitely true of cats. Whenever I do LSD around my friend's cat, he starts acting wild and hilarious.

Sometimes the energy is just too weird for them and their only reaction is to attack it. I don't think we can assume it's because your energy is negative or you're a bad person. The field that psychedelics creates can be intense, unfamiliar, and complicated.

I don't believe I am a truly negative or evil person.

Thank God for that! Neither do I! Lmao

It's just animals sense alot more about whats going on in our heads than we realise. There used to be a whole thread on this subject, animals behaving differently around tripping folk.

I've had cats my whole life & they definitely respond differently to me when I'm tripping, but mostly in an hilarious way, a good way. I kinda assumed that cats are actually tripping ALL the time & it's only when WE are tripping that we notice how completely nuts they really are!

I'm not sure if that's true of dogs but it's definitely true of cats. Whenever I do LSD around my friend's cat, he starts acting wild and hilarious.

See? It's not just me! We even both use the word hilarious!

I also wondered if perhaps with us stroking them & them rubbing against us, maybe they absorb tiny amounts of whatever Psychedelic & then start acting nuts... But I dunno, they kinda fucking loony anyway...

Ferrets are worse than dogs in sensing subtle changes. I've got two ferrets and they always act wild around me when I'm tripping. They don't seem angry but they do squeak a lot and bite me then run away. They also try to tear holes in my couch when they otherwise would never do this.

It's cause you see right through 'em. Their deepest and darkest secrets are revealed. Attack is the only option.
=D

It could be that instead of giving an evil / negative vibe, you appear so unpredictable to them that they feel threatened. Yet if it seems that you lost sharpness because you are particularly immersed in your trip, maybe they take the offense just to be sure?

However coincidental these indicents were, you can just choose to avoid animals while tripping - again: just to be sure.

Other than that, you are probably best off accepting that you can never be truly sure about the reason.
