Keep forgetting words mid-sentence!?

Hello!
Let me start by asking my main questions in this topic:

1.Is it possible to get some kind of Verbal Amnesia (forget words in the middle of sentences) due. use of drugs such as MDMA?

2.Will it be permanent?

3.Can I do something to fix this issue of mine?

4.Will I stop forgetting words, if I stop taking MDMA?

I have recently found myself forgetting words mid-sentence very often. It can be the most common words, but they just disappear while I'm talking. Which means that I have to finish the sentence to rephrase it. This is really annoying me so I am now wondering if this is happening to me because I have been taking MDMA every 4-8 week the last 6 months and if it will stop if i stop taking MDMA?

Yes yes yes, this is totally something i remember being caused by MDMA. There are many cognitive problems MDMA can leave you with , in my experience it occurs in the recovery stage. So lets say you don't touch MDMA again, you will eventually go back to normal and feel mentally alert. If you keep rolling you will keep noticing these problems , and they occur more often closest to your last roll.
I remember id even stutter sometimes back when i was in my rolling days, and i'm a person who NEVER Stuttered before. I don't roll anymore, and all these problems are gone for the most part.

yep...welcome to the begining of the bad stuff. it only gets worse from there. take a long break and switch up to one roll every 3 months. limit your self to 1 dose each time.

it used to take me 45 minutes to an hour to go the the gas station 5 minutes from my house.

go out to car...forgot keys
Look for keys...
find keys. go out to car. drive to gas station...forgot wallet
drive back...look for wallet.
find wallet...go out to car...no keys again....

you get the point.

I abused far worse than you did so my recovery times were most likely longer than yours will be. it took almost 2 years of no drug use before I felt 100% back to normal. most effects were greatly reduces 6-8 months after stopping. the one the stuck around the longest that I atribute to MDMA abuse was what I call "a giant hole in the barrier between the mouth and the brain". I would just blert out random thoughts at random times. I would normally get out a word or 3 before I realized that it was happening. resulted in alot of strange looks from people.

I think it's a concentration thing. I suffer from this both sobre and whilst on MDMA, but when I'm talking about something important like university work, at work or anything like that, I never get it. Only when chatting shit or rambling. You'll get used to it but I would suggest taking a break if you are feeling negatively affected by MDMA.

It's a negative side effect from taking MDMA. It goes away with time. I used MDMA regularly for 10 years and in the last few years before quitting I experienced this a lot. I took a break of almost 2 to 3 years and it slowly went away. I don't honestly remember when it left. I recently broke the break and tried MDMA again, and the "swiss cheese" brain came back with a vengeance. Thankfully after such a long break it only lasted several days, but once or twice I went completely blank in the middle of talking to my boss. It's not fun, and it was one of the reasons I quit using MDMA regularly.

F1n1shed is correct. In the weeks and months after quitting regular use, overall I started to feel better but the negative cognitive effects got worse before they slowly started getting better.

I don't know if they got worse or you just notice them more. once you know you got them you start looking for them. the ummm,ummm,ummm thing was the first thing that came. then forgetting other things started. then paranoia and depression. the final stage was emotional deadness. no happy, no sad, just a blah feeling...that took the longest to go away.

There is no compelling evidence that MDMA use causes cognitive impairment.

While studies exist which found cognitive impairment in MDMA users, those studies have been flawed (they didn't fully control for the fact that MDMA users are much more likely to do other drugs which may cause cognitive impairment than non-users, among other things). A more recent study from 2011 finds no cognitive impairments among ecstasy users (see here).

However, long-term of other drugs is more likely to have cognitive effects. It's not quite clear what you mean by

How do you say there is no compelling evidence that MDMA causes cognitive impairment. Read above moron, everyone is telling their PERSONAL experience which is PROOF. Besides the fact that we have experienced it our self there are so many studies and research done proving it does cause cognitive impairment, as well as emotional impairment(maybe not for ever but definitely for the long term). Fuck out of here man, giving out misinformation on MDMA always seems to piss me off. It's almost as bad as saying MDMA abuse won't cause depression, cause and effect.
I wasn't even rolling often, maybe once every 2 months average. And when id be in high school studying for pretty simple science or math subjects i felt like a complete idiot. I had to go back and read stuff 3-4 times, and problem solving was OUT the window. My friends attested the same thing, anyways you get the point.

i think im of above average intelligence and when i cant get 2 sentences out without stumbling over words that i've know my entire life i just feel stupid.
my parents and spouse both recognize that my speech is nowhere near as fluent or cognitive as before my mdma abuse period. not that im any less intelligent now (probly the opposite), my period of abuse led to a golden age of learning and research into drugs, pharmacology and the likes, i just cant talk worth shit

... yep, mdma can definitely fuck up your verbal skills. abstinence is key to fix it. it can take a long time though.

This sometimes happens to me while rolling but one night in particular on a night of many piperzine gladiez I spent the whole night saying to my friends "what was I saying again?" Every time I spoke I'd get the first sentence out then I would blank out and be like "fuck wtf was I talking bout" it wasn't just once or twice it happened every single time I spoke for 3 hrs. I was like omg I'm never gone be able to have a conversation again. Of course I was thinking that to myself cause if I had tried to say it I would've forgot what I was saying lol. Thankgod after that crap finally wore off I was able to start remembering again. But it was quite funny the first hour everybody was cracking up but after that it wasn't so funny any more!

And to the dude saying there is no proof of mdma causing cognitive deffects... Im tired as fuck and got out of bed just to say this:

MDMA deffintly does if abused cause cognitive defects however they are temporary, to a point obviously. After my heavy MDMA abuse period using MDMA every weekend for over 3 months straight that there were deffintite cognitive defects I became aware of however they are diminishing from abstaining from mdma use completely, and keeping active mentally.

I noticed that often in sentences I could not find the word I was looking for, my speech wasnt as fluent a it used to be and my choice of vocabulary seemed less broad as it used to. Creativity, thinking and high end mental... sorry no bullshit thinking of the word to put here that would fit again the side effect being shown as an example right here... high end mental tasks were out the window and I found it hard to concentrate. Sometimes I would also forget mid sentence abotu what im talkign about from the slightest dstraction. Short term memory also a bit shot. Lets not even get onto the depression, anxiety and derealizTION that followed.

I believe these effects are temporary as many others do... the symptoms are fading and im slowly returning to normal. the brains serotonin network is pretty damn important and you really realise thise once your in a recovery from mdma abuse - i really dont care if anyone thinks otherwise and backing up MDMA saying it isnt as dangerous as it seems, is far from true. MDMA when abused can cause these side effects. Respect MDMA and it will repect you/everything in moderation.

nope, i cannot. but it doesn't matter. i am relying on my own personal experience, which i trust more than any study done and financed by whomever.

you don't have to believe the majority of users "ITT" agreeing that molly indeed can cause damage and btw. if you abuse molly hard and end up only with some verbal deficits consider yourself lucky.

don't get me wrong, i know how awesome molly can be and used responsibly i don't see anything wrong with it, but for the sake of harm reduction please don't tell people that their impairment caused by molly wasn't real or is not possible.

to the doubting deby; record a speach right now about something you are very knowledgeable about. now use mdma every day(maybe every other day) for 6 months. now try give the exact same speach. once youve done that you can tell me whatever the fuck you want about this subject.

-im ganna believe the personal reports of abusers/users over the anonymously financed studies.
if a church study financed by the Vatican published a paper stating god was real and they had proof, ide still look for my own proof just based on the bias of who ran the study.

i have linked to a recent scientific study (more specifically, the BL thread about that recent scientific study). you have done nothing but attacked me. this doesn't make for an intelligent conversation.

Because i'm not gonna go dig up research and waste time, on something i know is fact. I know exactly what type of person you are man, your an MDMA user and you want your drug to come off as harmless since you are still using. When i first started i was kind of like you, 'o the damage will just reverse its self in no time ' or 'clean MDMA is not bad for you' (typical E-tard philosphy). Face it bro, your favorite drug isn't harmless, no where near it.

You found 1 research that is pro MDMA saying it may not cause cognitive impairment, when there are hundreds of credible papers out there saying it will cause these things. Go erowid it man, erowid has credible info on it. Just go to the neurotoxicity of MDMA section and there are stuff on cognitive function. Besides the research, i take real life experience seriously. Pretty much everyone in this thread could attest that they could not form coherent sentences easily after using MDMA, some people may be better at it but it will still be noticeable for most people. And i am not talking about the other drugs that may be cut with your pills, i am saying the MDMA is causing this.

That's just one study out of many. Unfortunately, MDMA usage does appear to be linked via several studies -- including a couple that did control for cannabis (egthis one) -- to at least temporary memory impairment, particularly associative memory (which is rather important for verbal communication among other things).

The studies have been too small scale to make very definitive conclusions, but the frequency of medical articles indicates that this is a very definite issue that cannot be brushed away by one simple counter study. Fortunately most of the studies indicate that this is an effect that is reversible over time.

Again I used to be one of those people who loved to go against what I knew in regards to MDMA abuse side effects and chose to learn the hard way... Always tried to give reason an back up MDMA and choose to believe over what I knew that it is safe. Wrong.

Stop fucking kidding yourself dude, MDMA itself can and does cause cognitive issues if abused however like I said, depending on use, are temporary. My cognitive skills were excellent before I ever touched MDMA, they are still recovering so don't tell me different that it is safe it really shits me off when people back up MDMA as a safe drug... Not to say it can't be used responsibly It is u drug of choice and I think it is amazing... But you have to respect it.

And fuck the studies like someone just pointed out you have living proof of MDMAs potential for damage all over this forum myself included
