K Withdrawl - Preventable? + Olneys lesions Research

Ive heard many people talk about k withdrawl, mostly that its a lot worse than withdrawl from other drugs.
For anyone who has experience with addiction to k: Is the withdrawl like opiates whereas you can ween off by using smaller and smaller doses? Or does it get to a point where you cant avoid the effects?
Also ive been doing some research on olneys lesions, and from what ive seen ketamine is less apt to cause them than say nitrous or dxm, but its still possible. Has anyone noticed anything they could attribute to ketamine? If you have write me an email with the details of use and the effect it had, or you can post it here as well.

Ok, I'll bite. I was avoiding this one cause the last time I talked about withdrawal here I got flamed for it.

I have weened myself off of many drugs but it did not seem to be an option with ketamine. I know how to ween properly.
I had to take a maintenance dose every 20 minutes while I was awake and every 2 hours while I tried to sleep. If too much time elapsed the shakes would start. If the dose wasn't big enough the shakes would start. These weren't normal withdrawal shakes. They were seizure type shakes. ans that's what happened when I finally went cold-turkey. I had a couple of seizures.

No way! k withdrawral!, i dont believe it, I have done k for weeks at hand and never had a problem stopping. (other than mental cravings. How long did you use, what doses, IM use or bumps, thats some crazy shit if your tellin the truth. Ive done tons of research on ket. and never saw anything refering to ket. as anything more than psychologically addicting. I wonder if 1. maybe u werent doing k (or it was cut or laced w/somthing causing physical dependancy. or 2. u were experiencing severe psychological addiction and belived u were withdrawring, or 3. You have some kind of epilepsy. Please hit me back with as much info as possible cause i am very interested

from what I've read, K is quite possibly the most intense withdrawal of all. I particularly remember a story from PhreeX.

Go hard or go home

No man, this is all true. I know a few people in my area that went thru really bad physical detox from K also. Phreex and a couple of other BLers did as well.

The first time I went thru physical withdrawal was after a six month habit of IM administration. I'm not gonna say my daily dose cause it'll sound like bs.

That doesn't surpise me. The first time I was hospitalized for K withdrawal I was pretty much a guinea pig. The doctors had no idea of what to expect and had a hell of a time trying to find other hospitals that delt with people going thru this. This was back in 99. There's plenty of cases out there now.

Not a chance. It came straight from the manufacturer to me. 99+% ketamine HCl.
. u were experiencing severe psychological addiction and belived u were withdrawring
I had two seizures immediately after quitting cold turkey. I was physically sick for almost 30 days. This was the worst I have ever felt in my life. I prayed for death. You cant imagine how bad it was. It makes heroin withdrawal look like the sniffles.
. You have some kind of epilepsy.
I was tested for everything. 2 months after I quit I was still having really bad shakes and shit like that. I myself was convinced that there had to by another problem. There really wasn't.

Here's how K addiction works (physical addiction). There is a low potential for someone to become physically addicted to ketamine. This just means that it's not an easy thing to get to. Once your there, however, it is a monster. A low potential for addiction says nothing about the severity of the addiction.
It's hard for me to explain. Ok, heroin has a high potential for addiction. It's very easy for someone to become addicted to heroin really quickly. It's not like that at all for K. However, if someone manages to build a physical dependence to ketamine the physical withdrawal associated with discontinued use is much more severe than the withdrawal from heroin and most other drugs.
Accute withdrawal was felt for at least 2 weeks. Chronic symptoms were felt for no less than 8 months.

ps- seizures are typical of wdwls. from tranquilizers and barbituates(alcohol too), CNS depressents which act on GABA receptors in the brain. Ketamine suprisingly is not a CNS depressent (not a cat tranquilizer) but a general anaesthtic fda approved in animals and humans for short procedures not requiring skeletal muscle relaxation. It does not cause major depression of vital fuctions, which in a withdrwl. state would cause seizures. Im not dobting u just looking for an obvious answer.

A GOOD DRUG IS a TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE

Excellent discussion going here guys, keep it up.
Damn for once I wish Duckbutt was still around, I argued this point with him for hours on end.
Freebase- I don't doubt a word of what you are saying.. I've heard of one case very VERY similar to yours, and your facts are dead on...I also read an account along these same lines a few months ago, but by the time Duckbutt and I started 'discussing' it, I had lost the URL...
Fantastic information; you're to be strongly commended...the horror stories I've read about Ketamine withdrawal send chills down my spine.

I didn't know that but it makes sense.
Like I said they really didn;t know what to expect from me or how to treat me. I had to be babysat the first 2 days that I was there. Basically a nurse sat there with me almost the whole time and observed everthing that happened. After a couple of days they concluded that I was experiencing the usuall symptoms of someone detoxing from tranquilizers so that's how I was treated.

Is it as physically intense as it is made out to be Freebase? Both you and Phreex have spoken of the extreme physical aspects of it..

I've done k everyday for months, usually three or four lines spread out from the time I get home from work and the time I go to bed, and I've been able to stop cold no problems, although I defiantely crave it for a week or so.
There are people who are geneticially dispositioned for alcohol adiction. Maybe it's possible the same thing happens with k and a very very few people. But still, you're scaring me. cause I'm haveing pictures of some scientists at the evil that is NIDA injecting large IM doses of k into rats over a very long period and then demonstrating they have some serious physical addiction symptons to show how addicting k is, and then k becoming schedule one cause the dea is getting pissed off about it being used recreationaly.

My sisters a vet student, she was saying at easter one of the girls in her class who was trying to anesthetize a horse with about ~1g of k IV in the jugular accidently hit the caratoid artery instead. The horse immediately dropped and started seizuring and the prof gave the horse a large shot of valium. The horse seemed fine a couple of hours later.

Genetic predisposition to alcohol addiction is not a medical fact. Most psychologists agree that it MAY be a factor, but not the deciding one.
And FREEBASE, I understand what you are saying about a low physical addiction potential. Benzos are considered to have a low one and that is why they are CIV. If you do become severely dependent on them, the withdraw could kill you in the form of seizures.
