Dissociatives K-Hole chasing

I’m I fairly regular user of ketamine. Fairly regular, though no significant withdrawals or cravings. One issue - I have never gotten a k-hole dose to work for me. Prior to my recreational use, I’ve had it for anesthesia. According to erowid, a k-hole IM dose should be 135 mg, but even at IM injection doses of 200, 300 mg, I’ve had diminishing returns on a strong dose. I’ve also had difficulties with breakthrough doses of psychedelics like DMT, though 5-MeO-DMT certainly did the trick. Anyone else experience this problem?

Yes. Never broken through on most drugs, however the first time I used ketamine, I lay om the bathroom floor paralysed experiencing -if you will- a 'Vaporwave'-like image.

Threw the ketamine away immediately after I could move again.

Not on Salvia, not on 5-MeO-DMT although the mood-lifting alone makes taking that drug worth the wait.

I'm not sure, if the breakthrough is something to persue. I thought O-PCE much more pleasant than either ketamine or 2D-FDCK.

You might try that instead.

Otherwise I can't advise you.

Salvia was an interesting one for me. Wouldn’t call it a “breakthrough” or a “++++” or anything, but I smoked a bowl of something like 100x, got turned around 180 degrees, saw the room I was in exactly as it was before the trip, had a strange telepathic conversation with a colleague and his girlfriend about me being a Kramer-type sitcom character who was set to die in this episode, decided, “Well, if you die in a salvia trip you probably just wake up,” and as soon as I knew it I was back facing the window, in real life, 180 degrees from my salvia perspective.

5-MeO-DMT put me into a world which looked like the cover art of “The Low End Theory” by A Tribe Called Quest, with the full color spectrum represented. I could still see and interact with every physical object around me, with full and accurate depth perception. Didn’t see any machine elves or hidden mysteries, just an HVAC unit and tubing that appeared to be composed entirely of streaks of oil paint. Might return to that one eventually. All of my experiences with N,DMT can largely be summarized as “shrooms, but without worrying about having to deal with it for multiple hours.”

For me 5-MeO-DMT at a large enough dose was a white light continuum although not too bright. It had small line drawings in it. Very simple blackish red. Like doodles on paper.

A lower dose of 5-MeO-DMT and everything would seem to be frost-flowered over.

Both experiences were fun, but I don't think I broke through.

N,N,DMT I have never taken.

Try s ketamine. It k holes you so much harder. Even snorting it k holes you and IV sends you deep into the k hole. Not recommending IV use though as that can become a problem in and of itself

I have only ever done what’s been described as pure s-ket. Hence the problem. Love the profile pic by the way.

I personally believe, and others in this thread may attest, that they are unable to reach breakthrough doses with some compounds. For some, like this, it might not be concerning since an OD on ketamine is a trip to bed, or worst case scenario, technical coma.

Like I said I got there once with 5-MeO. Just putting this out as a warning since for some k can be addictive and it does have health consequences for like 20-30% of regular users.

I am currently working on an an annotated version of Lilly’s autobiography; studied his work extensively during my neuroscience undergraduate work, and I got through Hegel, so I figured I’d give it a shot.

At this point, considering how much I’ve done of it, I don’t really see shooting for the k hole to be the goal here. Not sure what I’d get out of it.

Regular as in more than once a week? Probably tolerance. Back when I was naive 150mg nasal did the job. Now after a little binge I'll need the better part of a gram. Tolerance will reset after several months of abstinence but spikes again after a couple of uses.

Does this appears to be a regular ketamine, dissociation experience?

Unless I'm missing something is it appears that way bc at any dose ( never micro dosed ) sitting down and upright is preferred

No, it's not always good, I've gotten to dizzy , and colors too bright. For me this has happened with 125 mgs dose subq 30 mgs and I'm the remaining. Then at a dose like 50 mgs it yearns wanting more , then I added 100 mcg lsd

You must be seated , like in a recliner is ideal, or back up against something, like a bed pillow

I can see how it can be addictive , that said for me after it's done enough time, for me it was 20 xs over a two year period, there's no desire to obtain any or go to a ketamine clinic and pay $300.00 at this point in my life

Ive tried combined k with cannabis and seeemed to possibly enjoy it more than without

Could it have nueroplastic benefits with the glutamate signalling? Sure, yet enough research really hasn't been done on it

It does seem to help with immediate low mood relief, which likely comes from brain chemicals being low, more likely from hormones or other drugs, script meds dr experiments on people, if you let them , or if you want them

As far as tolerance as stated above , after two times , a week apart, a break of at least a week or two, and better yet a month seemed to reduce tolerance and have it work with a better quality experience

From experience I can see how people can get into the caught up newness of it, eventually that seems to wear off

I did fxe eod for four days and by second time it seemed tolerance already built, and higher and higher doses were required to get dissociation, day by day

It's been three months since last did k, really have no real desire to do it ,thankfully

That’s a long time for no ketamine. Yes I am a regular, daily or semi- daily user, but I generally don’t get withdrawals at work (never work high, even when I was drinking a bottle of vodka every night, thankfully the naltrexone fixed that). Been dealing with a lot of anxiety and depression due to all of my IRL friends abandoning me (who story, entirely unrelated to drugs) and the ketamine has been very helpful.

It's a good way of suspending reality but using it daily or semi daily isn't sustainable in the long term whichever way you slice it. Even weekly is a stretch it'll catch up with you eventually.

I wouldn't expect you to have withdrawals ketamine isn't physically addictive in the traditional sense. A lot of people get cramps as a side effect of daily use which more k will alleviate temporarily. The real hook is psychological dependency, which I guess is where you're at.

My experiences with N’N-DMT , cart and vaporized at a high dose in a pipe, were just “shrooms but shorter”. I have been taking LSD since I was 16 though. Best I can describe of 5-5eO was that everything looked like that A Tribe Called Quest album but in every color. I could still see the contours of my surroundings but it was completely and utterly changed.

Yep probably the case. Not gonna get that fixed until I get my psych meds changed though, but I am working on that. Thank you for the concern Shinji

Good point, because what does that even mean? What if someone came up to you and said "I break through every time on blah blah." How can that be quantified? To me the term breakthrough did not exist some years back and has become quite a bit of folk lore in recent years. Just another way to dick size IMO. Or at least it comes out like that a lot. A breakthrough is an intense experience. Period. There is no scale to prove this.

Pretty cool, and you reminded me as I get irked at the term breakthrough, I do really like the Shulgin + scale. But even that can be subjective but much better than the term breakthrough.

Saying all that there have been times I smoked DMT or Salvia and when I put the pipe down was saying to myself ok I really did it this time. And proceed to forget that I was a human that just smoked a substance. I guess that can be called breakthrough.

But can you breakthrough and not have a ++++ or the other way around? Maybe we need scales upon scales.

with regard to mental states - especially with the salvia scale of effects description S - A - L - V - I - A (subtle, altered, light visual, visionary, immaterial, amnesia) -
well the thing is, not only is the effect dose related, the duration of each state is also dose related, and as substance is absorbed into the blood and brain receptors *gushing blood from heart beats and veils of mucosa admitting the drug to blood, some fluctuation occurs. Also the mental content or scenarios real and imagined, also affect the transient nature of mental states.

so, this means that if I report -A- level trip, amnesia or blackout it means I am aware of a gap, and it may be a tiny one or a few tiny ones. but I will say that it happened once or twice for a few seconds.

someone else might not not even notice those brief gaps and they may say that their trip was -I- level, immaterial or synesthesia and if that happens (like turning into the couch, or becoming the floor) they could interpret this whole body experience as visionary and not immersively immaterial.

So they may say it was light visual or altered since they did not remember noticing any other particularly -V- visionary effect. They may even deny they had immaterial effects since they did not feel they also had visionary effects. In deed they may have had a sequence of amnesia effects between visionary and immaterial plateaus.

In this way very strong effects may be discounted by the psychonaut who is not attuned to brief exposure to the specific intensities or levels. Comparing between psychonauts seldom includes the duration of each intensity discussed or how the intensities interleave during the trip, and trips usually do have an up and down intensity wave over time.

With Ketamine the ramp up and down is slower than salvia, One achieves the resonant state (call it what you will) and then they are in it for a while. However since it is an anesthetic, the body "paralysis" or lethargy will mask the immaterial, or break through/synesthesia state, and they may pass through the visionary state without giving it much notice while they languor in immaterial or check out into amnesia.

For me Ketamine takes more than it gives - slowing down what might be experienced, and reducing the totality of what can be expected from mind expansion. Like alcohol, one can feel very uninhibited which is joyful for sure.

Start lower after fasting 2 hours, test in a safe spot with trip-sitters, and consider professional therapeutic sources like [link removed by moderator] for purer, measured options that avoid counterfeit risks. Always prioritize harm reduction over chasing the hole, as higher doses spike bladder and cognitive issues long-term.
