#cut4bieber Becomes Top Twitter Trend

A disturbing new hashtag became the top US trend on Twitter yesterday: #cut4bieber. It involved users posting photos of bleeding arms—purportedly the result of "cutting" by disappointed fans who are looking to pressure Justin Bieber into not smoking pot again. (He was recently photographed with what appeared to be a blunt in his hand.) Some of the Twitter images show ketchup squirted onto users' wrists, while others feature razors and other sharp objects alongside cuts that appear authentic. "#cut4bieber stop smoking weed Justin and ill stop cutting myself," reads one graphic tweet, alongside an image of a cut finger. The trend was quickly revealed to have started as a hoax from 4Chan, who pulled a similar prank in October.

They convinced much of the Internet that Bieber had cancer and that mass head-shavings in support of him were taking place, using the hashtag #baldforbieber. But as in the last case, some fans seem to have taken it seriously. The trend hasn't been confined to Twitter: A website was recently created that encourages fans of Bieber to cut themselves and post photos of the results until he publicly vows to give up marijuana. Many are finding the joke—if it is that—in bad taste. Bieber's fellow pop star Miley Cyrus has taken to Twitter herself to bash it: "#cut4bieber? Cutting is NOT something to joke about. There are people who are actually suffering from self-harm, this is so disrespectful," she writes. In one much retweeted comment, Twitter user Ryan Higa notes: "#cut4bieber is exactly why so many people hate on jb. Its not jb himself, its the fans that act stupid like this.."

The 'Boyfriend' singer - who was the subject of pictures posted online last week which were claimed to show him smoking marijuana - finds it 'reassuring' that he has the ability to 'shock' his mother Pattie Mallette and father Jeremy Bieber, but has no intention of doing anything they wouldn't approve of.

The 18-year-old star told Top of the Pops magazine: 'I still obey my parents, but I don't have to. I could shock them too.

'If I really wanted to do something that I know they wouldn't agree with, then I could do that now. Somehow that's reassuring.'

However, the star said his loved ones need not worry, because he's not about to rush into any rash decisions anytime soon, as he potentially may have done when he was a little younger.

He added: 'I've become more mature and a lot more grown up. Normally I make good, sound decisions. You don't have to worry about me. My parents trust me.'

Though Justin hasn't commented on the marijuana claims, he tweeted on Saturday that he wants to be a better person.

He wrote: 'Everyday growing and learning. Trying to be better. U get knocked down, u get up. I see all of u. I hear all of u. I never want to let any of you down. I love u.

'I'm ready. We are ready. See u all tomorrow and everyday after that. Back on tour tomorrow. Ready to see u all smile. Time to do what I'm supposed to be doing. Performing (sic).'

I laughed my ass off at his tweets, but the fucking troll who invented #cutforbiber is a fucking GENIOUS mwuhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

yes the original was a hoax/troll however some young girls did take it seriously..... its pretty sad really granted i really dont like justin bieber
but i still have a few scars on my arm from when i was 16/17 and i hate them.... of course this was 6 or 7 yrs ago and i would never have done it over my love for a pop star but its still sad

he sounds like a little bitch in his tweets. I bet a strong acid trip would throw him for a spin. I'm just waiting to read about his downward spiral into eventual heroin addiction, likely ending up on some show with dr drew. That will be my day.

i think the pic was definitely faked, if i had that much money i would not be hanging out in some shit hole stuck on a crowded couch with some other little queers (no offense to anyone who is gay). I think in his tweet where he said he was 'growing' is meant to be taken as in he is growing cannabis now (or has been and still is); he's officially a grower.
 
He looks so... normal in that pic. That picture reminded me of high school parties I used to go to. Hard to blame an 18 year old for doing that kind of thing.

I almost felt bad for the guy. Then I read the part about him having a Ferrari and my care meter went back to 0.
