just wandering what is so addicting about benzos

When taken for anxiety many people feel they need them to do more and more functions daily when really they should only be used as needed basis.

Recreationally, I think the same thing goes. And people began to buildup a tolerance before they knwo it

I never understppd the allure of benzos. they have never made me feel "good" of gotten me euphoric they just knockme out, and sometimes even put me in a black out. I have had severe anxiety at times and they didnt even do anything to help that. for me personally, they are the most pointless drug out there. the only benzo i would consider taking again if it was free would be a xanax bar and then only if i could bang an oxy with it to really nod

Fuck, I'd probably rather be addicted to heroin than benzos. Atleast the H addict actually gets 'high' everyday. Benzo addicts do not due to the insane tolerance that never stops climbing. I'm not saying opiate addicts don't deal with the same tolerance issues, but benzos are much worse in terms of the tolerance that is developed.

Benzos are a purely powerful as hell physical addiction/dependance. You don't get 'high' off them at this point, actually you would stop getting 'high' off them (if you even consider their effects a 'high') long before this stage. It's just a matter of making sure you eat the pills because otherwise withdrawal will show its ugly, soul-destroying head. Luckily tapering is possible, but even then, the physiological w/ds stay with you for a long time (potentially years) depending on your use.

I've tapered off benzos twice and both times I couldn't take the rebound anxiety so went back on them. 1st time I stayed off them for a year, 2nd time I lasted 3 months. I have an anxiety disorder. You don't want to know the hell that illness combined with a strong physical dependance on benzos will bring to your life.

I am addicted to klonopin although I'm in the process of tapering, I'm also still on Suboxone for opiates and I was using strictly Heroin for awhile and I'd much rather withdraw from a H habit than benzos, cold turkey or tapering, opiates withdrawals are more manageable to me.

People who have never been addicted to Heroin don't realize that you don't get high everyday, eventually you are just taking enough to not be sick, that's the shittiest part of being a junkie. If Heroin got me high everytime and I never developed an addiction I'd still use it everychance I get. Believe me, tolerance comes quicker than you'd think with Heroin.

So essentially, if you're dependent on benzos or opiates you run into the same problem, eventually you're taking them just to be normal and if you miss a dose..... well, you'll do just about anything to avoid that once you've experienced true withdrawals from either of these substances.

That being said, there are people who need benzos everyday just like there are people who need opiates everyday for chronic pain, it's a slippery slope. I need/needed the benzos, I started using opiates to get high but eventually I needed them to be normal and function.
