My background use of it is at 10mg only most nights for over a year just to help.with the onset of sleep and sometimes that doesn't work all the time on fact it seems to be working less and less.

I took the 30 mg tonight to reach a recreational dose and perhaps experience some mild hallucinations

Question 1 what are others experience with this amount should I lay down in a dark.room In my bed with some nice music playing and try to fight of the sleeping. Should I be in my comfy recliner in the living room with the lights lowered and some late night show playing in the back round and try to fight off sleep

Once I do succumb to the sleep how long is the ingested 30 mg gonna knock me out for is still just the usual recommended 8 hours or does it compound on each other to create a very long sleep of 24 hours.

I have hidden the bottle to hopefully minimize the risk of eating the other 270 mg without me knowing. I've hidden my car keys and other things that might not be good In my possession.

I am very much wanting to experience mild hallucinations to night so any help would be appreciated as to what this experience should feel like.

Thank you in advance

good call on hiding the pills and the keys. this should be enough to get some fun out of. you dont need to be in the dark, but a dim light is nice in my experience.

Should I be in my comfy recliner in the living room with the lights lowered and some late night show playing in the back round and try to fight off sleep -- i'd do this, personally.

you shouldn't sleep for a ridiculous amount of time, but you might sleep in and feel a bit tired in the morning.
have fun! i'm really jealous.

This is an update to my experience on taking the 30mg of ambien last night. I don't remember a Damn thing. The little bits that I remember are very uneventful. I remember waking in my chair and getting up to go to bed. Bouncing off the hallway walls a few times. It felt like I just directly walked right into them and bounced off like in a slapstick comedy. I literally flopped into bed and that's all I remember until morning. I slept a couple extra hours but that's it. I have also been groggy all day long but in my experience that's normal for me from the prescribed dose of 10 mg used for the proper purpose of sleep aid.

I think I was not properly prepared for "tripping" last night (and feel free to tell me if that term is not the appropriate word for this)
I just literally swallowed them and plopped into my chair and did nothing in preparation. For example getting the lighting set, what was on the tv, and getting in the right frame of mind for what I was hoping to experience. I'm not even sure how important those are in relation to what I'm trying to accomplish.

I have read quite a few trip reports on here and elsewhere so I have a tentative and naive idea of what to expect.

If I decide to try this again in another week or two I intend to pay a lot more attention beforehand as to the surroundings and the atmosphere and what not.

From what I can gather this has a great chance of hit and miss in reference as to whether or not I get hallucinations and whether I will even remember this due to the amnesia effect of this drug or whether I just straight out sleep through the whole thing.

Any more input, advice or warnings or anything in general will be appreciated. Please and thankyou

(And I also apologize for the double post it was an accident and not intentional)

Some people will never experience hallucinations as they blackout long before they ever get to that point. Blacking out on ambien is, ime, far more dangerous than blacking out on benzos. I seem to do very weird shit when blacked out on ambien.

For example I remember coming to with cooked food all over my house and all my condiments squirted on the interior of my fridge. The last thing you'd wanna do is set your house on fire because you're in no state to be cooking food. If you don't get hallucinations at doses that don't make you black out I would give up. Get some mushrooms if you want to trip.

I have a friend who is literally addicted to ambien. This girl will take 200 mg in a night fairly regularly, partially because she does redoes while she's sleepwalking. She's called 911 and ordered pizza, she drove us to a restaurant before I could figure out she was actually asleep, she packed up her whole house and thought I did it. When I look her square in the eyes and say, "are you asleep right now?" she answers yes or no quite reliably. Strangest fucking thing, I swear.

This is a totally normal response to taking three zolpidem. They don't have much recreational value unless you're one of the (randomly assigned) people who get visuals off a low dose.

okay i swear you mods in bdd are trying to make me die of laughter. ordering pizza in a blackout holy shit please tape the conversation and pm it to me.

Yeeeah, doing a ton of Ambien recreationally is a bad idea. As far as I can tell, z-drugs seem to be less likely to knock you on your ass than benzos are (this is probably at least somewhat due to GABA receptor selectivity), but when you take stupidly high doses you temporarily stop being able to form new memories. Thus, in the moment your actions may make perfect sense to you (and you'll seem reasonably awake and coherent to a casual observer), but since you're not forming any memories while you're doing things you can very easily get stuck in weird thought loops and/or engage in bizarre behavior. When the stuff wears off the next day, there will just be a chunk of memory missing and you'll have no idea what happened until your friends/SO/boss/etc. tell you.

My mother in law is 74 years old she gets whacked and does weird stuff when she's on her ambien so we had to cut her off, she has tried to leave the house a couple times thank God it was dark and she didn't escape. She gets out of bed and comes in the living room talking about and to people who aren't here I can tell by the way she looks at me she don't know who I am either. Then again when she's on it she aint here either. So no more ambien for granny!

I take it also but I build a tolerance really quick like take 3 - 2 or 3 nights in a row and that third night I don't even feel it hardly at all I have taken up to 5 at a time just to get sleepy after taking them for a couple days, fortunately the weird stuff don't happen to me like it does to the mother in law.
