Good work quitting for a week stimlover, that's a massive feat when you've been using frequently.
Personally I found it took two months until the acute withdrawal from meth was over - when I started to feel somewhat 'normal' and stopped craving intensely. I agree with laugh that exercise is really useful, don't feel that you have to force yourself in the first week or two either. Take that time to sleep and eat and recuperate, though a walk outside would still be really beneficial at this stage. Getting into stronger exercise can really get your natural pleasure centres working. I love running and it takes me a hard run to get that 'runner's high' but I can get there - if I jog until I'm exhausted and at that point of exhaustion, sprint as fast as I can, pretend the cops are behind me, and run until I feel like I'm going to collapse.
I took fish oil, magnesium, vitamin b complex, and multivitamin when I quit. I don't know how beneficial vitamins are, but b vitamins and magnesium are claimed to be particularly useful for methamphetamine addicts. Fish oil is beneficial for everyone, and I'd recommend everyone take it (if they don't eat oily fish a couple times a week).
I gave my pipes away because I didn't want to smash them, I had so many pipe smashing ceremonies over the years though.
The toughest part can be the psychological aspect, the craving to use can be very strong. I still get intense cravings even over a year and a half down the track. Do you have any mental tactics that you use when the cravings get strong? I think that without these it could be hard to stay off, even though you don't have a source, us addicts can be very resourceful and I know it wouldn't take me long to find a dealer if I was desperate. I would recommend mindfullness meditation - you don't even have to 'meditate' to practice this, although that is extremely beneficial too. It's about fully being in the present - rather than living in the past or the future, where anxiety, depression and often cravings reside. If you notice yourself thinking about the future - maybe worrying about how long you'll feel depressed, feeling your whole life without meth stretch interminably long in front of you or wondering and planning when you can get on, or living in the past - stressing about how much money you've spent or how much damage you've caused - bring yourself back to the present by focussing on what's happening right now - what you can hear, what you can see, what sensations you can feel in your body. It can really help make bad feelings more manageable.
All the best.
