Ok, like the title says. I just need some advice as I switched PM doctors since I just moved to another state. My new doctor has totally screwed me. I'm used to being prescribed 15 25mcg fentanyl patch 1 ever 2 days. The new doctor wrote me 10 1 patch every 3 days. I also was being prescribed oxycodone 20mg for a while for my IR pain reliever. I told the new doctor I haven't been taking the oxycodone since the epidural injections helped tremendously. Well, those shots were a couple of months ago, my pain is coming back. Honestly these 25mcg patches aren't even working. I've been applying 2 at a time (50mcg) just to get relief. Should I tell my doctor either raise my patch dose or prescribe me my IR meds.

The new doctors office says they are waiting for my medical records from my old doctor. I've already signed a contract stating I wouldn't go get any meds from another doctor, but my old doctor decreased my oxycodone dose and I could pick it up, but the problem is it's 7 hours away. I thought my mom would be able to pick the script up and mail it to me, but my dad who doesn't live in my old town who is 6 hours away is the only one who can.

My questions are. Should I call my doctor here and let her know I wasn't able to pick up my oxycodone script and that they can call my old doctor to verify I have a script so I can get it? Also, to let them know I've been taking more of my prescribed amount on my patches since I've been on 25mcg for about 7 months and since now that is all I'm on it doesn't help since I don't have the aid from the oxy. Also, if they aren't able to do anything should I just go to another doctor? I'm at a loss, I'm in pain, I'm almost out of my patches already when I got 10 8 days ago. I refuse to lay in bed due to my pain because a doctor won't write the right medication, I get that these are narcotics and that people lie to get them, but I am in legit pain. I have been in pain management for 9 years. One of the main problems (I know for a fact) is that I'm young, just turned 27 in April so they don't like having such young people on narcotics. I was hit by a drunk driver on my sport bike in 2006, seeing I almost died by someone under the influence I refuse to be an addict or anything along those lines so they should take that into consideration.

Any advice would be much appreciated,
DC

You need to make sure the old doctor sends your records over to the new one. Sometimes doctors charge a fee to do this so you should call them. Other than that, we can't advise you because ultimately it's the doctor's decision how he will proceed from there. Closed.
