Stimulants Just how dangerous is SPEED + Lexapro (SSRI)?

Hi all, I'm on 15mg Lexapro (an SSRI) for anxiety and as a result I will not be touching that lovely MDMA while on it due to the higher risk of Serotonin Syndrome. I am looking at Amphetamine as an alternative while out clubbing.

I have read that Speed can also put someone at risk for SS, but it looks like a very small risk compared to MDMA. But is it still a significant risk at low doses? Can anyone find a report of a death or near death from this combo? Has anyone here tried this combo themselves?

A combination of the two induces more euphoria and has a longer duration, I don't think the come down is so bad either. There's no risk of serotonin syndrome (though everyone is different).

I must state I only used this medication therapeutically.

I've used this combination of drugs as well, and IME the combination does seem to increase the effects of Amphetamine as well as increase its duration. It's important to note though that while regular Amphetamine (or Dextroamphetamine) affect mostly Dopamine and Norepinephrine, Methamphetamine affects Dopamine, Norepinephrine and Serotonin. So if you're worried about serotonin syndrome, make sure only to take pharmaceutical forms of Amphetamine like Dexadrine, Vyvanse or Adderall (Don't use Desoxyn, which is pharmaceutical dextro-methamphetamine).

Be careful, amphetamine raises blood levels of many SSRIs.

Thanks for your reply man. I will stay away from meth. However, if I managed to get a hold of quality speed from Europe, would that be the same as Pharmi Amphetamines? I was under the impression that the chemical makeup was very similar. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah, most street speed in Europe is a combination of Dextroamphetamine and Levoamohetamine (like Adderall, though the proportions of each isomer is likely different), adulterated with a shit load of caffeine. Pharmaceuticals are the only sure bet though, as street drugs, especially stimulants can be cut with all sorts of shit, and my concern would be that in Europe the speed would be adulterated with some type of RC stimulant-though in all honesty that concern could be unwarranted as I'm living in the states and have never used speed in Europe.

80mg adderall + 10mg lexapro didn't prove dangerous to me on a daily basis.

In fact, the SSRI "smoothed out" the comedown from amphetamine.

Possibly potentiated it a bit.

Something you might consider is that the withdrawal from speed related chems might exacerbate the reasons you are on lexapro. Wiegh the pros and coins carefully.
