Just got prescribed Zopiclone..anyone have any advice?

Having major trouble sleeping, and wanted to try something other than my usual benzos, so my doc rx'ed me 30 7.5mg zopiclones. I have tried them a couple of times before, but I can't remember what the effects were like. Anyone care to share?

Metal mouth.

That is the one overriding side effect i can recall from Zopiclone,they do help you sleep but there are other z-drugs available like Zolpidem (Ambien) which are just as effective yet lack that metal mouth side effect which would last a full day/night IME.

Damn, it's just kicking in right now..my mouth tastes like shit. I really wanted my doc to rx me zolpidem, but it seems like up here in canada, they think zolpiclone is better.
 
I like it. Try taking half a pill, for me it's just as effective as a full one but the metal taste is gone by the morning vs. it lasting into the afternoon.
 
i thought the only difference between the two was 7.5mg and 10mg.

I really would not advise anyone going above 20mg with this stuff, it makes you go a bit crazy while on it with no recollection :)
 
Helped me initially, but seemed to build tolerance within 3 weeks.


Hated the copper taste in me mouth in the morning.
 
in the states we've got "Lunesta" brand name S-Zopiclone. 3mg is the max dosage since its the more active (S) enantiomer.
I've taken up to 6mg of it just orally not sublingually and never had problem with the taste the night of or morning after.

Is the metal mouth syndrome simply associated with sublingual dosing?

all that aside, I found it to work about equally as well as Ambien for me, nothing special about lunesta.

I think Zopliclone only comes in either 3.75mg and 7.5mg doseage.

I never took it sublingually but i still suffered the awful metal mouth side effects for upto 24 hours after dosing.
 
zop knocks me out. But then I've got an insane low tolerance.


Should work wonders for your sleep. Not like blues leaving you hung over the next day. You should wake up fresh as a daisy. Let us know how you get on and how you feel tomorrow.
 
So I gave up using it for a while, because I kept waking up at 4 am for no reason. Got rx'ed clonozapam and that works better for me. Well I'll take 1 mg Kp then 7.5-15mg Zop at night and I sleep like a baby for nine hours.
