Heroin Just got back from the hospital where I THINK they shot me up with Heroin?

I'm having a flare-up with acute pancreatitis. I convinced them to let me stay home instead of being admitted (I can keep down liquids so should be okay at home with just opioids and anti-emetics) but for the severe pain I was there for, they shot me up twice (four hours apart) with 10mg of Diamorphine Hydrochloride.
Am I crazy or is that literally pharmaceutical-grade Heroin?

You probably don't need it in the states as there are far fewer opioid options here. For example, we don't have Hydrocodone (no Vicodin/Norco/Lortab etc), or Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) or Oxymorphone (Opana).

I have no idea *shrugs*.
We don't have any of the oxy equivalents of the Vicodin (like Percocet or Percodan), either, but we do have OxyContin and regular Oxycodone.

It's a shame, 'cause I've had Dilaudid before (bought online) and it's the most effective of any opioid for my pain.

Good to hear in the UK, be it routine or wisdom. Heroine is treated as medicin.
As how heavy it sounds, i seen my Mom going from excrutiating pain to, hey nice flowers, now your here lets get out and have a walk around. Have some fun.

IV Morphine and Heroine don t differ very much , i think.
That shot of Morphine landed my Mom on cloud 9.
So in the hospital they give that, while Heroine addicts in the program
Get Pharmaceutical DiAcetylMorphine.
So does that imply they are not the same.

And the Di-Acetyl-eted form is more euphoric.
Acetyl-LSD certainly is ime.

Btw Pethedine is weird, my wife got it during labor.
Later on told me she regreted it, its not a clean Opiod.
Like Heroine. She felt also dissociation, delerious like effect and memory loss. What would you expect from a hospital.

I've had Pethidine once (well, one lot of pills, enough to take half a dozen times) and I agree it's kinda weird. It's a pretty weak opioid (I'd put it around the same strength as Codeine or Tramadol, I don't know it's "official" rating on the opioid scale, though). I had very slightly more euphoria than I would with an equidose of Codeine, but there was a mildly unpleasant foggy feeling, kinda like the usual opioid fogginess, but...yeah, I think "dirtier" is a good adjective. Same way Tramadol feels "dirty" to me.

I'm kinda shocked she only got Pethidine for that!

I meant that you don't really need Diamorphine because there's already a choice of SO MANY opioids of varying strengths.

I was under the impression the Pethidine (Demerol) was a great highly euphoric opioid. Yes, slightly weaker than Oxy/Dilaudid/Diamorphine, etc ….but because of its unique MOA having Mu-Opioid Agonist properties in addition to inhibiting the DAT/NET causing a significant increase in Dopamine + Opioid …..kinda like a Speedball in one compound i.e. Demerol

Me personally, I’ve tried every opioid and every ROA…….and NOTHING comes close to oral Oxycodone in euphoric pleasure. Nothing. Yes, yes, injecting Hydromorphone or illicit H is very pleasurable, but oral Oxycodone is just on another level…..synthesized from theBaine, a non-sedating, slightly stimulating Significantly Euphoric Opioid with potent analgesic properties. I’ll never forget those cold winters with sickening RA chronic pain, taking CDN 80’s Oxy with a hot tea…..holding the hot cup, 30min onset the pain just melting away into an overwhelming euphoric sensation of warmth & comfort…..happy, mood-boosting antidepressants effects and able to enjoy my day and forget I have this Fck ing horrid RA pain ……the only bonus, a lifelong script of Opioids & Dopaminergic Stimulants (Ritalin-Methylphenidate) the ultimate pain killing combo ….the 1 - 2 punch (like Cocaine & Heroin in the same rig, IV’d)

Wow, I didn't know that they still used that in the UK. Here in the US they usually use either morphine or fentanyl.
