So a week or so ago i got a script for klonopin and was wondering how fast tolerance starts setting in. Ive been keeping my intake low as possible, about .5mg a day and up until about 2 days ago that was working. Now it seems like i need more. Im worried that im going to eventually have a tolerance so high that i wont be able to get the rite amount of pills prescribed to me seeing as if i took them as the doc recommended then "i shouldn't have tolerance issues", which means i shouldn't need more. So is there any way to keep tolerance down or is it inevitable that im going to be needing more for the desired effect in the near future. Thanks for any feedback.

Interesting. I'm Rx'd 2mg/day and often get by w/ .5-1mg just fine, and have had the script for several months now.

yeah i wouldn't doubt it. I think my biggest downfall comes from the fact that im one of those people that take a benzo and think the effects aren't there but in reality im deff under the influence of them. Doesnt help that i had a huge addiction to xanax a couple years back, taking 10mg daily at least.

Ahh, the previous Xanax experience is likely what's causing this. Your perception of the drug's activity is skewed, imo. Try only taking it when you feel that you need something, and the smallest amount until you're calm, not "feeling something".

Have you ever taken xanax before trying klonopin? Because i feel like that could deff be the problem. I feel that xanax was alot stronger and deff more recreational then kpin

Yep - my first benzo was Ativan, second Xanax (neither Rx'd, but the ativan helped a LOT w/ depression I was having at the time, the Xanax was just a "why the hell not" while getting oxycodone one time[the particular time I recall - I've had it several times, but never enjoyed it much - probably because I don't really get high from benzos, just feel normal]).

Xanax is much quicker acting, in both onset and duration, which give the recreational ability. It's also very strong (on par with clonazepam however).

What are your thoughts on the fact that im also taking 50mg zoloft daily. would this reduce the effect of the klonopin? I know setraline (zoloft) is an inhibitor of clonazepam (klonopin). Im not knowledgeable in the liver enzyme stuff but im pretty sure that means i mite have a reduced effect of the klonopin whilst taking the zoloft.

Is the klonopin something you need evreryday ? I'm prescribed to take it 3 times a day that was 7 years ago. I noticed after a while the feeling I got from them was no longer their so I started to double it and started the visous cycle of doubling up more. Then more then whe. n that was not effective. luckily I got a grip on it and stopped taking them daily. I'm prescribed them to prevent myself basically from having panic attacks (and I get horrible panic attacks been to the er a few times because of them). I guess the more I had built up in my system the less likely I was going to have a panic attack. Well after a while they came back. I do not get them daily and a lot of times now I can get myself thru them but there are times when I can't. Yesterday for example had a big one out of no where so of course me being me I took more then what I'm suppoded to but it did the trick. I do need to watch how many I take if I am going to take them because I have lost my tolerance to them (which I'm glad) but I always end up passing out. By the end of the month when its time to pick up my refill I always have over half the old prescription still left. Basically I shit ton of klonopins at least a years worth in my house. Trust me though I will say benzo withdrawls are horrible. They rank right up there with opiate withdrawls and chronic alcohol abuse withdrawls. Very hard to detox off of.

Yeah ive been thru the withdrawals.....had to get prescribed an anticonvulsant just from preventing myself from getting a seizure . Couldn't sleep for a week straight and my fucking teeth (weird) hurt like hell.

Dude my teeth were aching when I was in detox but as far as I know I wasn't grinding them or anything. And I knew I wasn't doing it in my sleep because I couldn't sleep !

Yeah that's a really weird effect when comming down from xanax, your teeth hurt like a mofo....hard to even eat.

yes there is a way to keep tolerance down or at least SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW it....never take it when you dont need to, only take it when you need to, start with .25mg or half a pill first sublingually when u feel the need to take it, only take rxed amount if the half doesnt work, and never take more tha rxed, and finally, take breaks/skip days/on n off/holidays and just be conservative............ONLY take when needed and start as small as possible (sublingually so it starts faster, reaches peak sooner and u wont think ulll need to take more since k pin doesnt work fast)

also, kpin lasts over 24 hrs in ur blood, so u may not noticce it working, or as well, but its there from yesterday. let that bioochemical fact give u peace of mind if u ever feel like "I NNEEEED A KPIN NOW" just try to hold out unless ur havin a full blown panic attack, which if thats the case, xanax AS needed might be better. is it gad/general or social anxiety or acute panic attack anxiety ur rxed for

saw this after, ZOLOFT is not just an ssri antidepresssant, its strong affinity for 5ht1a makes it a very potent anti anxiety/anxiolytic....50-100mg of zoloft daily may be able to totally diminish ur need for kpins so u dont get any tolerance, and there is no diminished fx with the combo

I got my kpins after my depression/anxiety was over with a year ago. now i just sell them for straight cash and use a few with some alcohol for a good buzz. they aren't a fix and will only lead to problems later. ssri's are awful too, i think its a very bad idea to use ssri's unless its your last hope

^ yeah i thinking of getting off the ssri's and reevaluating my life and see if i really need AD's to make me happy, which i sincerely think i dont. @poly...thanks for that info!!!!

First off, Xanax sucks and is way overrated. Half-life is way to short with Alprazolam for it to be used as a daily treatment for GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder). Clonazepam is not ANY weaker than Xanax, infact I find Clonazepam stronger than Alprazolam (but actually they are both the same mg for mg) Clonazepam is just more subtle. Out of all the Benzo's in the North America anyway, I'd have to say by far that Bromazepam (Lectopam) is definitely my favourite, and about the 2nd or 3rd strongest benzodiazepine in North America.

that would be a good option from my experience. they change you slowly into someone you've never been before, until u realize it one day. but i was only on them for a few months tops so no harm was done. working out is a +++++++++++ in my book. best thing Ive done to increase my confidence and is enjoyable too. good luck bro
