this is not meant to be a masterpiece, but it meant a lot to me and some fellow rehabbers last year.

“Just for Today”

Takin’ in what it takes
or givin’ away
Sick and tired
of being sick and tired today
OneLove, Thanks, Magic
Coincidental, forgotten tragic
Past
You’re livin’ in the
Past but you’re makin’
the good times last
Happiness drifts from you
Fast
So you put matters
into your own hands
as miracles happen
in the Promised Land
Figure the simple truth
is “so complicated”
because the hidden proof
seems roughly demonstrated

Then the voice you heard
just suddenly faded
and it left, along with all the anxieties
that you must’ve truly hated
Now you wonder why
you feel so elated
and stable
Peel off the labels
Put food on the table
and don’t live in the
Dark so often
Spark some conversation
with strangers
Captivate them
from time to time
No more room to whine
or else look out for the sign:
EXIT

Another good one man I enjoyed the ending

Put food on the table and dont live in the dark so often, spark some conversation with strangers, captivate them, from time to time, no more room to whine

I dont feel I fully understand the last 2 lines though... have an idea the meaning is felt a bit but still not fully sure I comprehend

i can see your point...

the AA meetings I used to go to in rehab last year in Atlanta had several EXIT signs in this one room (with terrible acoustics by the way). a lot of the time people would frown as they heard something they didn't like and would get up to leave. also when people are detoxing (or just havin a bad day), they are in a really shitty mood and just complain a lot. i never shared but, AA is supposed to be a place to kinda bitch about things, but those meetings being some of my first (now like 300), it was very irritating to me at the time. hope that clears it up somewhat.

that's pretty cool! i don't know why but the word "modern" came into my head after reading it.
i don't do much aa anymore, i have in my past.. sober the "aa way", no offense to it at all, cause it worked.. for awhile. i go to na now (it's pretty much the same), i dunno.. it hit me on a different level. i don't know if that made sense but that was a really neat read! :)

thanks, I'm glad you got something out of it. i try to hit up an NA meeting from time to time, but I don't seem to learn as much from it compared to AA. to each their own, a wise fella would say
