Juggling on Psychedelics

I always thought of juggling as an activity for artistic-freak-prodigies and something way too frustrating and boring for me.
well, a few months ago I got three balls in my hands and got instantly hooked. :)

naturally I tried to juggle under the influence of various psychoactives.
it's no surprise that alcohol - even in lower dosages - totally kills juggling skills.
but hell was I surprised to what extend psychedelics improved my juggling-abilities! I tried it several times from full-on-+++- to threshold-states and every time I got euphoric on how good it worked.
on higher doses it may at first seem to be extremely difficult with a sensation of heavy-/sluggishness, but then I always learned that these sensations are a result of severe time-dilation. from then on I always felt that I simply cannot do mistakes any more (confirmed by observers). the balls fly so slow and so crisp and the hands do their work and it's all in a flow and then the thinking stops and there we go... <3 :D

for the sake of science I took a 20mcg-dose of LSD (which is noticeable at most) and tried a few tricks I'd been failing on for some time (-> clawing technique). didn't take me 5 minutes to master it.

anyway: juggling while tripping is amazing ime and I'm curious about my fellow-bluelighters' experiences!

Lol im totally gonna give that a shot on my next dose of whatever, love playing with my hands tripping, I learnt how to do the coin juggling through fingers thingy majiggy sporadically on mushrooms one time and on 2C-I I really get into a flow with it, if I can stay focused then I dont fuck up until I think about what im doing, its ace!

ha, nice thread... also lol

Seems like there's a "That's what she said" joke in there somewhere ;)

There was some limited study about use of psychedelics for creative problem solving in the 60s, hasn't been followed up on recently, though i am aware of one ongoing study not directly looking at psychedelics, but the type of experiences they produce & it's relation to creative problem solving.

IIRC the study in the 60s (believe it was a Stolaroff et al if you wanna check the Hoffman Collection over at erowid) did note a positive correlation.

I attempted to learn how to juggle a long time ago, before my psychedelic career started. I always ended up doing what the instruction pamphlet described as "Joggling" ha. Maybe i should give it another go the next time i trip :)

Juggling is a lot like playing QWOP....

At first it makes absolutely no sense, seems like its gonna be impossible, and not even worth trying to learn.....

but then you complete a jug or two, like when you make that first movement similar to a step in QWOP, and you get all motivated and happy and shit...

then you keep working on it till you get to the point where you understand how it works, but still cant reliably do it....

then you keep getting better and better until one day you decide that now that you can kinda do it a bit, its not so much fun and you stop doing it.....

now juggling is the coolest useless skill I have

and YES, I can juggle much better while in the plateau of a trip.

Juggling on Methoxetamine is one of my favourite activities, it's easy to get lost for hours even doing the simplest juggling tricks.

Psychedelics have a tendency to allow us to stop trying so hard to get something right, and simply allow us to flow....

Look into poi, staff, and contact juggling if your interested in playing with other performance arts....

I have never fancied myself a painter or artistic, but performance arts are something I like a lot... It gets me out in front of people, which is overall good for me. And once you reach a point where you are able to just let go and flow with it, it becomes a transcending sort of meditation.

But if you like playing with balls, contact juggling is a little bit more subtle, and it will allow you to incorporate some object manipulation and illusion into your juggling.

^^it takes a long time to be that good, the trick is to just make it something you practice when your doing nothing else with your hands....

I frequently play pinball really well while tripping. But I can rarely keep the run up for a whole game, without getting my focus broken by something.

i <3 this thread :)

I'm generally a pretty good fuseball player, but once at a party while i was tripping me & a friend went on a 20-30 game winning streak vs all manner of people at this party. epic

Hah yea this thread is pretty awesome, after watching a shpongle show in which one of the performers was a pretty awesome contact juggle. I spent the next couple of hours (tripping on a moderate dose of 2c-e) trying to contact juggle. Trying again later while sober I do remember not being able to do it quite as good, though I was still absolutely terrible while tripping just slightly better.

Making me want to learn to juggle. I think I could potentially be good at spinning poi looking at how well I am able to spin glow sticks and such right of the bat.

When I am tripping I am always looking for an object to toss up in the air and catch. It usually ends up being a water bottle cap. I like to throw it up in the air and catch it in weird ways like behind my back, as I am spinning, eyes closed. My hand eye coordination must be really excellent because I blow myself away with the catches I pull off especially when i'm not even really trying or paying attention. Its AWESOME! I catch myself doing it before I even realize it most of the time. I want to try juggling while tripping now.

The first time my friends and I took LSD, two tabs of the strongest shit I've ever had, we were sitting around in a circle in his room watching the walls begin to breathe when my friend grabbed four golf balls and started juggling them, it looked like he was throwing an old-school representation of an atom around in his hands. We even took two more balls and threw them into his pattern and he picked up on them flawlessly. He couldn't juggle before, and he can't juggle now. It was one of the funniest and coolest parts of the trip.

I am learning how to beat juggle on the turntables. This isnt exactly what you are speaking of but it has a lot to do with hand eye cordination. I am gonna try this next time I am trippn'
