How do we all do it here on Bluelight? Any tips and/or tricks to make it bigger and smoke better? What papers do we use? What do you do for a roach if you are outside of Melbourne and don't have a metcard? What percentage mix do you use?
Just in case anybody is interested I tend to use venttii papers, and do 3 paper joints with 1 gram of bud, mixed with 1 full cigarette (50/50 mix generally). Papers are joined like so:

._____| |
._____|___|

Haha that's my attempt anyway... I could find a picture but that may be against the rules?

EDIT: Ok, my drawing didn't go how I wanted... but it is like 2 stuck together parallel with a slight overlap, then a third stuck at right angles to the first 2 with a little bit of glue showing at the top

Small layer of tobacco layer of finest weed and another small layer on top

Then roll

Then smoke

Repeat ad infinitum

Sounds good. I've been wanting to try a 5 paper.... Also, anybody know how to stop a joint from canoe-ing (where it only burns down one side)? I mean before you smoke it though.

Make sure there is an even layer of baccy on each side of the bud (If you even use baccy that is)

how do i roll joints?

i use the search function.

other than that i dont, i smoke bongs.
but if i do roll joints its a classic doobie

I tend to use one king size blue rizla, never bothered to learn how to roll with more than one paper at a time.

I usually put down a thin "core" of tobacco, then about half of the weed over it, then I pick the baccy up a tiny bit to let some weed fall around it to the bottom. I then ad small layers of baccy followed by weed, and roll it into shape after each layer to look for large areas of bud with no baccy overlying them (which I fix). This helps make sure it smokes evenly, and stops it "canoeing" (we usually call it spooning in the UK). Another method I occasionally use is to put down an even thinner core of tobacco, then mix the rest in with the bud an just add it around it. This does give a better mix, but I'm not too good at guessing the amount of baccy to mix with, and don't like having it left over (I don't like baccy in my weed bag and vice versa).

BTW, I don't know if you can get them in the states, but most head shops over here sel "Rips" - bascally a long roll of paper you can cut to whatever length you like. Found it much easier when trying to roll longer ones.

I have started using a pipe a lot more.

But I usually use a flier for roach, if not, a train ticket. Normal king size silver rizla, if not, 2 small blues patched together.

Small amount of baccy and crumble weed/hash in. Roll and smoke.

Although I have been enjoying a chillum lately.

When I used to roll joints for smoking in groups at parties or with friends or alone in the woods I'd use a variety of papers from rizla blues, zig zag orange and cut corners, thin ez wider, bambu, and job papers. I also once used some strawberry flavored papers.

I'd use two papers for a big joint/spliff (without tobacco) and just one paper for a standard joint.

I got one of those joint rolling machines once since it was cheap and I just gave it away to a friend that rolled his own cigarettes with papers and tobacco. I know people who will roll a joint and don't put a roach in the end and then they take a dollar bill and roll the joint between that to even it out.

For a roach I'd just use the cardboard behind the pack of papers. I stopped smoking J's aside from in groups at parties when I got a pipe or if I was in the woods and smoking alone and figured I'd have to ditch the J if I had to.

This crazy guy I knew gave me a pinner and it had some of the best herb I've ever smoked in it but he grinds his herb into a fine powder. I remember he once gave me a bit of excellent herb and I was putting it into a dugout and it fell into the carpet and I lost all of it. :( I wish I knew the names of the strains he had.

If you want to get better at rolling joints keep practicing. Sometimes it's a lot easier to roll a bigger joint than it is to roll a smaller joint but many people (myself included) feel as though bigger joints are a waste and it would be better to smoke all of that herb in a one hitter, in a bowl, or in a bong instead.

I know one guy who rolled an entire 8th of mids in a joint and yeah that was a waste.

I roll, and smoke, a lot of joints. I personally smoke at least three a day, and then at work I'll roll about fifty a week for sale (I work at a dispensary)... so I have a bit of experience.

The key to keeping the joint from canoeing and keeping it burning smoothly is the mix. It's important to make sure the marijuana and the tobacco is mixed in well together, and cut down to the proper size. I like to use scissors and paper for this, some people prefer a grinder, others prefer a butcher knife and a chopping block. I can't stress enough how important this is to proper construction, you'll be very pleased if you switch from layering your joints and using fingers to pull apart the plant material. For filter, I use the subscription reply cars found inside any magazine... those cards will make twenty or thirty filters each. 3x5 index cards work well too, but they cost (a tiny bit of) money, so I stick to the free stuff. I use the paper from the cigarette as a smaller filter, crumpled up inside the tube filter, to prevent any small materials from getting into your mouth or teeth.
I personally roll backwards, with the sticky side facing out, and us only one pass of the paper. This is harder to do, and must really be seen to understand, but know that it's the same amount of paper used in a cigarette, not wrapped around multiple times like a traditional joint.
Right now I use elements king size papers, but occasionally switch to RAW (made by the same company) and use OCB when I can't get anything else. The rizzlas and jokers and JOB and all those other papers sold at the grocery and crappy little headshops taste and burn horrible.

happy rolling, and happier smoking!

I grind up the buds with a grinder (or chop them with a knife if there's none to be had) then roll up using Top papers. And for the filter, I use a tiny bit of cotton, usually from a Q-tip or something, or just say screw the filter if I'm rolling a j of mids.

I am an American, however I lived in Europe for awhile and also learned how to roll using European websites. Because of this I will sometimes roll with tobacco when rolling a solo joint.

I prefer joints over anything nowadays and smoke them more then anything. I think this is because I am far less stingy with weed nowadays. I do not buy bag after bag and I usually set smoking dates and joints allow me to get through it a little more.

For whatever reason, I find the high from a joint more mellow and longer lasting which is exactly what I am looking for. I love having a nice joint rolled up for me for when I get home from work.

I prefer blunts, but joints are great if I'm on a walk with my friend because other than the smell and way we hold it, it looks enough like a cigarette.

Are you talking about an L?

I've tried and tried for hours. I can't do it. So I just smoke at home with my bong. It can travel too if I need to since it is made out of a soy bottle and doesn't spill easy. Or use a one hitter. If I do smoke a joint I like the flavored papers better. Less harsh.

I Put my weed in my rizzla then roll it. lol?

meh, to each his own. There is a reason people pay me to roll joints for them, and it's that I do pay that much attention to it. Obviously, no one is paying you, so it really doesn't matter so long as you're happy.
