Joint rolling: Tips, tricks and your techniques

Tips for people who can't roll even the most basic joint (only applies to tobacoo smokers):
Buy a pouch of rolling tobacco
Buy a pack of rolling papers
Buy a pack of filters
Every time you want a cig, try and roll one.
By the end of the pouch, you will be an expert roller :)
gleep

youre all crazy hehe buy a rolly machine theyre cheap small and after a bit of practice so easy to use. You can ensure that no weed is wasted in the dog end of the thing, slip a filter in easily.

Dante I'm with you on making the hollow tube first with a filter.
The base used for making the tube can be anything, a pen, a big nail, a thick texter depending on the size you want. For beginners even at this method insert your filter while the tube is still mostly on the object you rolled it on.
For the filter I suggest an appropriate size piece of the box of that disgraceful product cigarettes, really nice firm filter. Can be prone to creating big gaps in your filter, be kareful.
Stoke your weed in in pinches out of your mix box. Try your best to stoke the first few pinches in firmly so the filter/joint isn't flimsy.
trick: if you find it IS flimsy and don't have time to empty it and re-stoke it then do this, push your filter in a bit deeper to tighten it up, and trim the now protruding cigarette paper that doing this has created.
Honestly, this tube and stoking method makes the superior joint, no question. An unfair advantage over the chronic traditionalists, but who has the better smoke?

Thanks BigTrancer. I am now a big fan of the super inside-out joint. Less paper goes off. :)

anything from copters to tulips, trumpets to jumbo 15 or more paper doobs, even the subway.
i can even do a special mouth piece for two or three joints made from the discarded tallyho packet.

not being one to hit the hooch particularlay often, my technique is rather simple and one i'm sure ur all familiar with....
Hollow out a ciggie.....leave a bit just above the filter (so you don't end up smoking the bastard when your mate is screaming "there's still some there!!")
Cut the tobacco up so you can mix it easily with the green....
and pack the shit back into the ciggarette using the inside of a pen, a skewer, whatever fits down there..
cut half the filter off..
Its good cos you don't spend the whole time trying to hold the thing together....
if u use malboro lights (the long ones)or davidoffs/cartiers i spose, you can make a rather nice long one!

Bit of a story... I was sitting there a couple days ago rolling up a super doobie three paper bitch and amusing myself happily, when a friend who's just arrived from NZ commented on the tobacco issue. And the cutting up issue. And... well kiwi's are picky bastards... ;) j/k
Anyway the story goes - apparently it's customary to smoke green Js in NZ, and according to my local expert, they do not even chop up the weed to speak of. I'm led to believe that breaking up a stick of choof and then wrapping paper around it is the style of the times.
Now, note there aren't any particular hard and fast reasons why this is so, or at least not any that we could come up with at the time... not weaker choof, not dryer choof, no real point at all besides it's just the way it's done. So anyway I put my contentions forth: tobacco helps the J burn properly, provides robustness and burning duration without tainting the flavour too much (particularly if you use a good heavy flavoured tobacco like marlboro red), and that chopping a mix like 'so' would allow a smoother-burning, easy-drawing J that could be passed around without fear of ashing it and losing the whole guts of the scoob. I mean... they sound like decent enough reasons to me ;)
Anyway, so I continued rolling it my way, and twenty five tokes later i'm still holding about a third of the J that looks like a cigar about as thick as my thumb and a couple inches long and everyone in the room is giggling their arses off... I guess either way you roll them, it's still gonna get you stoned.
I'll be sure to update with a roadtest comparison next time, when we get some NZ-style Js going :D

He left! Buggered off to warmer climates, in QLD... but I'll be picking up the research where we left off as a side project in the near future.

BT ;)

I've had joints with weed that has been 'ripped apart' due to lack of scissors. The weed is layed out, then a small amount of baccy layed out on top and then rolled up. And let me say to this day it was one of my finest.

please MR Spgeddi, will you give us the run down on hot to do a tulip, PLEASE!

I tried one about a year ago and have been trying to find out how ever since

^ me too. First time i ever smoked the sacred green was a a tulip... they truly are a beauty to behold....

*sigh* :)

For many self acclaimed purists and cannabologists, mixing with anything is taboo, as is chopping mull with scissors or anything metal. Metal can definitely affects the taste, with a more rich flavour often coming from mull which is broken into smaller pieces by hand. In NZ it's not uncommon for someone to light up a straight bud and pass that round. *No paper or anything bro!*

Another factor which may unconsciously influence choice of rolling style is the grass itself. Some bush, high sativa strains don't seem to burn well when chopped up finely, as apposed to many hydro strains which often don't burn properly unless you do. In the end it's personal choice, for the joint which burns longest may taste poorly compared to three smaller ones. Personally, I think the first 2 tokes from any joint are the best for taste.

hey what is that link sposed to be, it doesn't work!

IF ITS A LINK TO HOW TO MAKE A TULIP PLEASE FIX IT!!!

Or surely someone out there's gotta know how it's done or where to get the info?8o
