Jogging

I think I'm going to start.

I smoke a lot of cigarettes so it will be difficult at first but I need some sort of cardio.

I'm not ready to quit smoking yet but when I do I figure I'll give Chantix a try.

Ugh! I can already picture the tight chest, wheezing and constricted throat.

It'll be worth it.

Jogging is great fun! Be sure to get a good pair of shoes. Don't skimp on 'em, your knees will thank you.

When you're starting up, what works well to improve your condition at first is to alternate running and walking. So say that you're doing a 3K run (which is probably not a bad place to start), you might run for a minute, then walk for 30 seconds, then repeat. This will keep you from getting too winded, ensure that you're running in a way that won't hurt yourself, and eventually you can decrease the length of time that you walk over the course of the run.

Oh, and for shits and giggles you can swing by MapMyRun.com to keep a running journal if you're so inclined.

Oh no Dave. Don't you know how anal retentive OD is? He'll love that he can journal his running. He'll run just so he can journal. It just may motivate him to run. OD let me know how it goes.

My dad did the Chantix thing and he said after a bit they started to taste really bad. It seems that it has worked for him. My dad seems to suggest taking it...just be aware of your mental state as there are some side effects (just like there can be with anti-depressants as well). But I would say go for it. It is worth a try at least.
