I dunno, that was just in Manchester, the job centre was next door to Moss Side. They were probably used to trouble.

Longsight has been known over the past with its gang related violence, similar to that of nearby Moss Side.[1] Most of the violence came from tensions between gangs; Longsight Crew and their rivals Gooch Close Gang from nearby Moss Side. Both gangs fought turf war between each other since late 90s, which resulted in many shootings and several deaths.

Longsight was immortalised in song by local singer Ian Brown formerly of The Stone Roses on his album Solarized. The song was titled 'Longsight M13' reflecting the postcode of the area, which begins with M13. Graffiti appeared locally saying 'Stone Roses RIP' when the band split up, and 'Free Ian Brown' when he was jailed.[10] The song was written with Brown's former Roses bandmate, guitarist Aziz Ibrahim, who still lives in Longsight.[11] Brown also mentions the area in the Stone Roses song "Daybreak" which contains the line "From Atlanta, Georgia, to Longsight, Manchester". In recent times Longsight has suffered like surrounding south inner-city areas, with gangs, drugs and high profile shootings.

Last year and again this year I applied for a job working for a company which moves from festival to festival all over Europe and sometimes further afield putting up all the marquees and structures etc. Both years they said they've got a full crew already as people tend to go back year after year. Today I received an email saying they need last minute crew members to start very soon which is quite interesting. So I've emailed them back asking when, for how long, what the schedule is (they've supplied the tents for festies in Brazil etc before so hoping they've a few good gigs lined up this year) and how much they pay. If it sounds good then I'm probably gonna go for it, just want a few details from them first.
 
I've just emailed the bloke back to tell him I'm taking the job. Looks like TheSpade is getting paid to travel round the world (or Europe at least...hope I get sent further than T in the Park) and go to festivals for the summer. Fuck aye! %)

Things have changed. A crew member had pulled out so the job was mines, now the crew member has unpulled out so maybe there's no job anymore. That's lovely. :|

You got really lucky there. There are so many jobsworth pricks at the JC+. They could have easily told you that they would have to re-schedule and you need another crisis loan if your skint. My local JC+ has the 1way door at the crisis loan bit go off into a dodgy alley just off our high street. Any junkies who want quick cash could easily mug you there coz the post office never asks for ID to cash a crisis loan...

Never met a prick in the job centre yet. It must be my charm ;) You can only have one crisis loan in a 6 month period. I was entitled to a crisis loan as they weren't paying me for 3 and a bit weeks.

My local JC+ has the 1way door at the crisis loan bit go off into a dodgy alley just off our high street. Any junkies who want quick cash could easily mug you there coz the post office never asks for ID to cash a crisis loan..

The one I went to stunk! Was UBER high security. Was a building especially for crisis loans, and interviews. Metal bars on the glass interview room windows.

And NO fucker would dare mug me, i'd whip their ass with my mad ass whipping skills ;)

maybe its different in my district but my friend had a crisis loan the day before he went for his jsa appointment, missed the appointment and applied for another crisis loan a fortnight later then fucked the appointment off again. he got between 60 and 70 quid each time. i was thinking there has to be something wrong there but apparently not, maybe its because he has no income at all?
 
Been a while since I got a crisis loan (although only recently finished paying them off several years later 8)) but you could get them maybe weekly or certainly fortnightly, as far as I recall. If it's only once every six months now that's rather shit. Did you mean a budgeting loan by any chance? At least six months before you could get another but it's a few hundred rather than the £2.50 you get with crisis loans. I actually got one for 74p once - had to wait a good six hours for it too. I actually cashed it too I was so skint :\
