what are some job titles that aren't counselling or psychiatry?

I would really like to help people in these fields but not talk to people about their problems on one on one sessions nor go to med school to get a degree that would take ages.....(I already have a BA/Bcom in sociology and int. bus)

would there be anything statistical or research based working for the government or mental health foundation>?

the most helpful thing you can do is work for a pharmaceutical company. you will be making medication that is very good at helping people with anxiety and depression and telling the truth about it!

whilst I get your humour, working as a lab rat or a pharmacist or even general worker would not appeal to me ++ medication is only one facet of treatment options available.

you could try nursing??? that is a job that is always in demand. you'd have to go back to school for awhile but not medical school.

Also you could try group therapy if you dont like one-on-one, just get ur masters in counseling.

Are cancer-free doctors also fighting cancer just to look good? Also how do you know what the OP has been through?

if you want to help anyone with anxiety or depression without having gone through it yourself all you care about is looking good to other people.

so unless you have personal experience, I don't want your fucking "help".

I agree in a sense, maybe not quite to that point.

I'm in school to be a mental health counselor, but I never would have wanted to choose this job had I not expierenced depression myself. The help I will offer people comes from years of school and training, but the empathy and passion I feel for making their lives better comes from my personal expierences. Gotta have both IMO.

where do you take that knowledge from? how do you want to know that?

I can not stand anyone but a fellow vet to tell me he/she has knows what it feels like. It makes me angrier....so for perhaps PTSD at least, please do know what the person has been though before being a full on councillor for that.

You could be an activity organizer in a psychiatric hospital, scheduling and organizing outings, trips, games and other activities for mentally challenged. Might be very rewording if you like helping people.
