I bet this is an isolated incident that the media has blown out of proportion….. If people in Africa are really doing this they deserve to be eliminated……….

I doubt it's methane. It's too water insoluble to pass into the blood from the lungs.

My guess is it's H2S, hydrogen sulfide. Man, that's nasty.
 
I could be a drug baron out there, open up a 'legal' sewage factory; then at night ship out the fine sewage to the dealers.

It's not that there are no drugs available in Africa; it's that these kids don't have any money. The article says they're turning to this because they can't even afford glue to sniff, so I doubt they'd have the bankroll for any of our "real drugs."

This just goes to show, you can't stop people from trying to reach altered states of mind. Even if they can't afford the illegal drugs around, there's always some way to access a chemical that will have some effect on one's mind. The question is just how safe the process will be. In this case, not very.
 
Our "real drugs" cost a lot less in source and transit countries.
Who says they can't start producing drugs? I'm sure there are places where weed and poppies would grow quite well in africa. Shit, they should just start drinking more... :|

and you know what, it is funny. huffing shit to get high? i doubt it would do that much anyways. they could just as well huff glue or any other noxious chemical for the same results. boo hoo life sucks for them but its common sense shit spreads disease. the romans sure as hell knew about it. yea maybe life sucks for them but c'mon, you cant possibly feel sorry for them huffing dookie. and if you do, you need to pull your string.
