Jan 6 Attack on the Capitol and the aftermath

This is solid cope. Thank you Jerry!

I dunno man, it was pretty on point. But cope as you will.

Like with Trump himself, it's best to form your opinions by watching the people involved. You can tell a lot by observing people communicating. Lies are spotted, fact come out. It's a whole lot more effective than taking the word of second- or third-hand sources, when you actually observe what is going on. In this case, through watching the hearings.

You have to admit to yourself that its nothing more than a distraction. The only thing that really gets to me is that its a full on display of the duplicity in our justice system. Many of these people have been held in solitary confinement for over a year, for non violent trespassing. The cover up of federal agent provocateurs like Ray epp, also really bugs me. Its horrifying, honestly, if you are paying attention. If the right controlled the establishment and was doing these things against things I disagree with, I’d be just as horrified.

(edit) also the five police officers/sgt of arms that have mostly ‘committed suicide’ since 1/6, also deeply disturbs me. This stuff is all verifiable too.

I'm pretty sure that the Jan 6 Commission is completely separate from the courts who are prosecuting the actual insurrectionists. If you were watching the hearings you would see that the majority of the witnesses are republican politicians, judges, and aides who were all first or second hand witnesses to Trump's shenanigans. No one is on trial.... yet. Very compelling stuff.

Was there ever any chance they were going to overturn the election ? It was a bunch of dipshits…
FROM THE GUN CONTROL THREAD:

@Las Veghost grower You are correct it was a bunch of dipshits who fell for Trump's lies. And now some are paying the price for it while 45 still walks.

They may not have been too close to actually overturning the election but had they hung Pence like they attempted to do, it would have created a political and Constitutional shitstorm. And regardless of how close they came on that day, they had the intention of doing it and almost succeeded in at least delaying the count of electoral votes. Like I said, the insurrection was not just about property damage and violence, it was the culmination of months worth of planning and scheming that included over 60 frivolous lawsuits, high pressure tactics to coerce many state level politicians to "find" votes, state officials actually attempting to send fake electors, and even several states submitting fraudulent elector certificates to Congress. When all of those illegal acts failed, then the insurrection was the final attempt to subvert the election. So in that context, Jan 6 was much more than what happened on that day and the coup is still in progress, in plain site.

I’m waiting to see jan sixth on ice in august, that might convince me it’s more important than the world collapsing due to horrible policy decisions.

You were arguing that a large portion of "moderates" share your opinion. I asked why you believed that. I see no answer. So, please try to gather up some courage, and go outside, and ask 100 strangers (in person) if they agree with what happened on Jan 6th. If you're that confident in your opinion, there is no reason to avoid being proven right, correct?

Do you think maybe there's a chance the echo chamber of Russian shills on the internet has distorted your perspective?

Also, what sort of policy decisions lead to Jan 6th... good ones? Remind me how the country was doing, pre-Biden, in 2020? Super good, right? Or was it the darkest year of modern American history?

You're right- bad policy/decisions are important to scrutinize. This is part of that discussion, but your pride is blinding you. Go read the Mueller report if you wanna talk about policy, so you can at least be fully aware of what methods you're supporting.

As a true believer, and Russia conspiracy theorist, I dont think you are capable of having a sober opinion on the subject. I don’t think many agreed with folx trespassing on the capital, but the whole insurrection narrative is certainly only a concern of those people that watch cable news and read establishment news. Probably around 20% of the population, at best. Most of us only care about the economy, which is in shambles atm

indeed.

@Las Veghost grower perhaps if somebody tries to murder another and their attempt is weak, or poorly thought through, we should just let them walk? was there ever a chance they were actually going to succeed in killing somebody?

i would love to see the answer to that question but i fear we never will...

Wait that was directed at me? lmao I am literally the one that posted it. I like the bee bc it is satire that makes the establishment seethe. It was simply pointing out how insane it is to have a hearsay witness without even attempting to contact the witnesses that were actually there. To non establishment folx and attorneys, that is down right looney tunes. Or, more aptly, it lends credibility to the show trial claim.

So presenting a hearsay witness without even attempting to contact the people that were there, that the claims were made about, is a ok in your mind? lol they even volunteered to testify. These show trials are frightening, but not nearly as frightening as the fact that 30% of the population is willing to bury their heads in the sand and not ask the most basic of questions.

I don’t understand these people who are like “the Russian conspiracy“

it makes me just exhausted to my soul.

I think the country should split in two

if half of the country wants to live in a totalitarian regime run by trump with no abortions and armed to the teeth why are we trying to help people who don’t want to help themselves; let them go

it has completely alluded them that we would be living in a trump dictatorship right now and as much as biden makes my skin crawl I don’t want to live in a banana republic run by a man who is incompetent at best and a narcissist on a good day and acts like a sociopath

not a patriotic bone in his body
as someone from military family his continual disrespect for those who have served both in the past the present and their families really disgusts me, someone who didn’t serve should shut the fuck up

Americans no longer know the difference between fact and opinion

we need to restore the FCC fairness doctrine so news can no longer be entertainment and deviceness with the channels spitting out what the consumer wants to hear that’s not news at best it’s an echo chamber at worst it’s an agent of misinformation, sensationalism and lies

most people get their facts from talking heads who are just giving their opinions
by that metric I could be a news anchor

Americans iq’s have been dropping and it’s only getting worse the average American iq is now 98 which is below average intelligence and it shows

What about how the witnesses on your side refuse to testify under oath? You ignored half of the post you're replying to... the important half, IMO.

How do supporters of that side justify the extremely clear evasiveness and unwillingness to speak under oath? It's the #1 signal of guilt, or at least of having something to hide.

Gotta call out the what aboutism here lmao. In a time where the doj and fbi is being used to go after anyone that threatens the establishmen/status quo, I would certainly hope all of these people protect themselves first. The punishment is the process, they bankrupt you in court costs etc. I would feel the exact same if things were flipped politics wise.

I see your point, but how is what I said whataboutism?
