The damn postman has let me down so I'm out of codeine linctus until tomorrow (at the earliest). I've managed to blag a 100ml bottle of J Collis Browne containing 20mg anhydrous morphine, peppermint oil and not much else. Assuming my regular codeine dose is 300mg x 3 per day, how much JCB will I need to take to ward off the worst of the withdrawals?

I know about cwe etc but for the sake of this post let's focus on the Collis Browne.
 
You'd need considerably more than 20mg of morphine. I'd say. Tbh you'd almost certainly not feel a thing from that but may help with the worst of the sniffles. I'd maybe consider hitting up a few chemists locally for OTC co-codamols if possible. Think there's ~240mg of codeine per pack of the OTC which would most likely do more than 20mg of morphine will. Three boxes and you're golden pretty much. Not really sure how many bottles of J Collis you'd need to roughly equate to 900mg of codeine but would be a few I suspect. Would hazard a guess at maybe 4-5 bottles if there's 20mg morphine per bottle but hard to say as it's hard to say what 900mg of codeine really equates to anyway.
 
100ml JCB = 20mg morphine = 200mg codeine

900mg codeine = 90mg morphine = 450ml JCB

You will need 4 & a half bottles of J Collis Browne to keep withdrawals at bay.

Thanks for the replies. Being the cautious (pussy) type, I took a third of the bottle along with 50mg codeine. I certainly do feel intoxicated but not euphoric. The withdrawals are not really noticeable so it must have done something.
 
I've never been convinced by opioid conversion charts myself. Very rough approximation at best I'd say. Certainly don't tally with my own experience anyway. Codeine, oxy and tramadol seem a fair bit off compared with each other and with morphine. Fentanyl one doesn't make much sense either but think there's a bit missing that might explain that. Have the same issues with benzo converson charts as well. In both cases I'd take any figures given as an extremely rough estimate and with a very large pinch of salt.
 
Sham - Yeah, I don't do opiates very much at all so wouldn't have a clue if the above chart is accurate or not.
I do agree with u on the benzo conversion chart tho. Some of the equivelances are waaay off IMO/IME.
 
It's pretty much the same case with opioid conversion charts I'd say, Acid. Very hit and miss. They're generally a good starting point when trying to compare unfamiliar opioids though. I dont' agree with 200mg codeine = 20mg morphine at all personally but was still thinking roughly 4-5 bottles of J Collis when you take various factors into account so between somewhat educated guesswork and supposedly accurate medical equivalences we appear to have nailed it down anyway :D

(i'll take vaguely educated guesswork > conversion charts for opi's and benzos meself though ;))
 
Well an hour in and I just feel sedated. If this is what morphine is all about I think I'll stick to my codeine in future!
 
Oral morphine has never been much to rave about. Even 30-60mg just leaves you with a pounding headache. I prefer a CWE on co-codamol - and that's pretty shit lets face it.
 
Indeed, Issy. You'd generally need fuckloads of morphine orally (even with no tolerance) to approach owt recreational. And even then it's mostly just sedation and itchiez. Is better plugged but is still only morphine. Is okay as a painkiller (not brilliant but better than codeine) but a bit shite recreationally. Imo, ime, etc, etc. A long way from being my favourite opiate. Some love the stuff though so what would I know? Personal taste innit. I generally prefer more stimulating opi's recreationally, some prefer the more sedating types like morphine. Ain't called morphine for nothing - sweet dreams :D

Also, didn't you say you only took a third of a bottle and 50mg of codeine, Curious? Curious indeed if that's sedating ya. That's all of about 8mg of morphine. Good luck to ya if you're getting a buzz off that but I'd suspect either placebo or other ingredients in the J Collins are at play. Can't recall what else is in the stuff offhand but you've basically taken the equivalent of about 4-6 30/500 co-codamols. Enough for some to feel but someone who's been taking 900mg of codeine a day?!? Blimey is all I can say. Blimey, enjoy and don't question it as long as it works :D<3

Incidentally, had a job with a mate once delivering drugs to hospitals. Including those lovely lil red CD packs. You wanna know what willpower means? Try clucking yer nads off all day whilst delivering CD packs and pallets of benzos to hospitals without any going missing 8(
 
I should point out that even though 300mg is my recreational sweet spot, I can still feel as little as 50mg. I know I'm overly sensitive to codeine as it always gives me genuine euphoria, even after 5 years of three times daily abuse. It feels sooo good that it's always on my mind, without exception. I'll take my last dose at around 7PM then all I can think of is how great I'll feel the next morning when i take my next dose. Properly addicted :(

I easily felt the 7mg morphine doing its thang but it's definitely not for me. No euphoria or wellbeing, just sedation. Makes me wonder how I'd react to oxy and the like (disappointed possibly).

One more thing, ive taken around 15mg morphine so far and I have absolutely zero codeine withdrawals! I feel
100% well so I guess the morphine does have its uses!
 
Nah. Oxy is nothing like morphine - more like codeine if anything. Well, like codeine if it were really, really, really fukkin nice and a helluva lot stronger anyway :D

Opi's tend to be either sedating or stimulating (with the sedation to follow on later). Morphine is definitely the former, oxy definitely the latter. Methadone the former, heroin the latter. Codeine is much nearer the stimulating end for me. Euphoria can be attached to either end of the spectrum depending on what does it for you personally. I find morphine to be reasonably euphoric - more so than codeine - but not especially recreational. Is all down to personal taste really.
 
At least I have an emergency withdrawal aid should I ever need it. Wouldn't like to drive on the stuff though

Absolutely. If it's working for ya then good on yer cos that's a very nice lil backup you found there. Opiates are weird drugs. People respond to 'em in very different ways. I once knew a bloke who actively chose to abuse methadone over heroin 8(
