I've got a prescription for 2mg of xanax...

everytime I refill my prescription I always get bars. Today when I refilled I got these big, round blue pills...one side has a 2, the other side has a G. Has anyone seen these? I've been popping xanax for years and have never seen these.

Theyre just generic xanax xr, Ive seen them quite a few ties although the yellow bars seem to be much more prevalent.

What's the negatives to the xr? I'm assuming they're time release.

Yes, XR means Extended Release. Just crush them to make it instant release.

Snorting them is a pain in the ass and chewing them tastes like shit...what's the downfall to popping them as is? The effect just won't hit me as hard?

Did your dr write your script wrong? Maybe you should call your dr or your pharmacist and find out why your pills are different.. When I was scripted for 2mg a day I always got the blue football 1mg IR not the ER and never the bars. I would call and find out.

The effect will be spaced out over a period of time, hence "extended" release...you can crush it up and either put it really far back on your tongue and swallow fast with some water, or put the powder in a really really really tiny piece of toilet paper and swallow it that way. Xanax tastes like absolute fucking shit, I agree...plus, snorting them is pointless anyway, they have a super high oral bioavailibility.


EDIT: Violenza, maybe the were out of the brand name, or just had a different generic in stock? Where I fill my prescription regularly always tells me if the pills are going to look different and sometimes even puts a sticker on the bottle about it, and it's usually just made by a different company.
