Opioids IV Oxymorphone... No effect??!

I'm kind of confused I would appreciate if anyone could shed some light on IV oxymorphone...

I picked up my prescription of 5mg Opana IR at the pharmacy a few hours ago... ive been prescribed Opana ER for quite some time now although this is the first time ive had Opana IR...

So naturally ive been pretty excited to try IVing it but am a little bit surprised that i felt little to no effects... im not sure if it was the dose or the way i prepared it.

i have a pretty high opiate tolerance although since oxymorphone is extremely potent i figured i would start low and work my way up... i decided 5mg is a good starting point... i banged it and felt almost nothing! i figured i didn't let it dissolve long enough so i tried IVing another 5mg about 20 minutes later after stirring for a while and again felt nothing...

im thinking that 10mg might be a bit more appropriate... but this seems strange because 12mg of dilaudid provides me with a very good strong rush... so 10mg of oxymorphone should equate to about 15mg of dilaudid. it just doesnt make sense.

could it possibly be that it is generic?? i had no idea that generic opana even existed... until i paid for the script and checked them out. when mixed with water the solution turns sort of thick... i think there is a type of starch as an inactive. is it possible that the oxymorphone isn't binding with the water? or maybe the dose is too low because i have to snort a lot of the ER to catch a buzz.

I used to bang 30-40mg (3-4 10mg IRs) and they would get me extremely sick for not a great high. Now that I'm mostly off opioids and my tolerance is way down I just IVed 1/8 of a 10mg I had sitting around and got a half rush. Shot 2.5-3mg more and now I'm set and flying, now I remember why this is one of my favorites but with a low tolerance hydromorphone is a little better IMO matched mg to mg (I was in a permanent state of rush last night off 4 mg and I'm not quite there on 4mg oxymorphone).


Up your dose. How much do you take of other opioids?
 
Never shot up opana, but opiates are water soluble as is, so it should have dissolved fine. Most likely your not doing enough and have a strong tolerance.

Also, you said this was your first time shooting, with opana or anything? I know this may sound crazy but maybe you missed/shot im by mistake
 
^ this is just my first time IVing opana... i am a frequent IV user and i am sure i did not miss the shot.

i guess i just thought that somehow the IR version trapped some of the oxymorphone just like the timerx gel in Opana ER because these IR pills seem to sludge up a bit from some kind of starch as an inactive filler... but i guess it is just that i didnt get the dose quite right. my tolerance is extremely high because of this damn opana... i have to snort up to 40-60mg of the ER just to feel any kind of buzz... and to get fairly high it takes significantly more... so that explains it but i expected, even with insufflated doses that high, that 10mg IV would still give me somewhat of a pleasant rush. is that odd, that a week ago 10mg of dilaudid hit me hard but i barely feel anything with 10mg of oxy??

a few hours ago i tried again, i banged 10mg... then immediately prepped another 10mg and shot it... so that would be 20mg in a 15-20 minute span... i got barely got high... not anywhere near the glorious feeling that is equated with IV oxymorphone. so i guess tomorrow when im fresh ill IV 20mg at once and see how it feels... seems ridiculous though.

The IRs don't sludge, they just have a lot of fillers so I'm sure you just aren't using enough water. Pro tip- get a 3ml syringe if possible but 1ml will do, stuff it with cotton and pack it down so you ave 1/4" or so packed tight and backload the pink mixture into it and force the mix through directly into the back of the syringe you are using. It will be crystal clear. Check out the solid pink filler cake left behind in the filter syringe. I found 1 10mg IR needs 30ml water, maybe a bit more if you aren't trying to stuff 3 in a 1ml needle.

Exactly. I kmow I have a high tolerance. I only IV'ed Opana IR once but did it 30mgs a pop. No rush and no really excting hi to report but was ok. Wasn't worth the effort of prepping it. Next time I'll just snort them.
 
generic opana

roxane released a generic of the opana ir on sept 29. I have been getting the brand name 10's for over a year, a friend of mine injects them frequently. This last time I picked up the generics, I thought I had compared the ingredients and the were the same except for the color. I found out when my friend had trouble IV'ing them that they contain microcrystaline cellulose, which does sludge up, the active ingredient is soluble in water but it takes a lot more water and better filtering. my friend is having troubles with it, I suggested she get some micron filters instead of the cotton but I'm not sure how much that'll help. I'm going to pay the extra for brand next time, its much easier and I take 240 mg of the er daily and a brand name 10 is enough for me to feel, as long as its only once in awhile.
 
As for the reshooting 20minutes later...
I never really feel anything rush wise when I redose like that. I've never IVd opana, I'm talking with Dope, Dilaudid or Oxy. For me if I don't do it all at once its wasted.

Sort of like if you rail an OC80, then 20 minutes later you decide it wasn't enough. I never even feel the next line (besides some sedation 1hr later), sort of a waste.
