Hey guys,

Daily IV user: Relapsed 1 yr ago after 7 yrs clean like an idiot. Healthiest I’d ever been, too. Now getting sick in more ways than one. I hardly feel the rush now, & for some reason the second I use my anxiety levels skyrocket uncontrollably. Then I can literally nap 30 mins later. It’s terrible, but it’s also been messing with my muscular skeletal and nervous system. I have odd random spells of severe thycardia episodes sporadically that are scary as hell. Heart tests came back okay. My blood is BRIGHT intense red & looks like artery blood even in my superficial veins? My doctor didn’t seem worried, but I don’t think it’s normal. I get small bumps that swell up every time I inject now, too. Maybe my blood is either weak or overly acidic? Anyway, I bit the inside of my mouth. Turned into the most painful ulcer sore. Unbearable! Been applying medicine but it’s getting worse and now I’m getting little sores around it. Weirdest part is my gums. My gums are suddenly on FIRE!!!! Red, inflamed, burning, every time I use. My mouth instantly flares up. Feels like someone’s holding a match in my mouth. My teeth feel a little odd, too. Normally very healthy teeth, but have always struggled with not so healthy gums. The ulcer sores burn the second I inject, too. Wtf is going on and what will help?

In the processing of quitting & doing okay with my amazing supportive husband. But I can’t work or function without at least a dime shot a day right now. My friend said she read when this happens to your mouth seek medical attention by calling 911 immediately? Not so sure about that one... 🥺

At this point you really need to stop using meth. Having been seriously addicted to IV meth a couple of times I can assure you that you can crack it in 3-4 days if you focus, have some comfort meds like benzos and not-psychotics, and take the time of work and away from triggers. You might not stay sober forever, but you ought to be able to have a decent break away from it and let your body recover for a while.

Every symptom you mentioned in your post is potentially a sign of something quite serious.

Thank you. I’ve been working on quitting finally. I’m frustrated with the doctors. They gave me a clean bill of health when I was obviously NOT okay. My blood is no longer bright red and the odd symptoms with my mouth burning went away after a few days, but still. My body is obviously rejecting it more often than not. My husbands helping me. He doesn’t use. I cut down first. Making all the excuses. Here soon I’m just going to take 5 days and just do it. One of these times it will be too late. I’m filled with panic every time I use now. It’s terrible. So many just abnormal things I experience. My veins are getting hard to hit finally, and any time I shoot now I get knots and just tons of little red dots all over my arms? They look like tiny little red dots everywhere. It’s so odd. I’m done. I just can’t chance it anymore.

I’m very happy to hear you are doing ok and making progress. Not only is the meth itself dangerous but there are all kinds of cuts and contaminants that can add to health problems. I had a lot of fun on meth for a while but have no regrets quitting IV after being left without a usable vein even for doctors to use. I’m looking forward to quitting smoking it too starting Jan 1. Good luck with your recovery. There are lots of resources and people on Bluelight that can help you.
