Just read this today, I'm sure others have already seen this but wow. Thats suprising. I wish or hope they are able to go somewhere with this and make it a actual anti-depressant. I never have tried ketamine, but I heard the phsycadelics can be intense, so I would hope they could make a copy of Ketamines anti-depressive properties and make it into a non psycadelic anti-depressant. I would love to take one pill for seasonal depression that last for up to a week. Thats like 12 pills total?

Sounds amazing to me, just wondering if anyone else actually have felt a cure from depression from Ketamine use?

That's like saying we need to create a treatment for PSTD related to MDMA that doesn't make you roll.

Totally defeats the purpose and wouldn't work.

True. I would love to try this, but I would feel very scared unless I'm surrounded by professional phsycians, phscyitrist type people, etc. Because of the fact that I'm sort've already detached, sort've a OBE all the time. I have depersonalzation so I have no idea how having an OBE while already feeling OBE would result.

I would love to try this for depression, or any problems such as that. I just read in the beginner guide that it can be very extreme, so I would be nervous. But it also said there is a team that uses it to treat sucidial people, alcoholics and addicts.

Does anyone see this possibly becoming a wide spread treatment anytime soon?

idk it seems to me that unless you have a serious chemical imbalance in the brain you are just asking for trouble by using ketamine (even if just one dose a week) or any other drug including typical antidepressants to cure you of your depression. Now I have nothing against ketamine use once a week or even more often if thats your thing and it makes you happy, but lets not confuse the reason your taking it. Nothing personal against ketamine or this work, but in the past many things marketed as "magic drug for depression" have turned out to be not only money making schemes but also dangerous ones at that

There are several thread on Bluelight with info and first hand experience regarding such. A few over in ADD, and Jamshyd has a great thread about his relationship with Ketamine for treating depression.......

don't have links, but easily found with the SE

Here it is: http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=372731

kanye: it absolutely works and the only reason I'm still alive. It doesn't have to be IVed, and the doses used are so tiny you'd barely feel the normal effects of the drug - almost no psychedelic-like effects at all.

Thanks man Ill check that out soon. But what did you do exactly, buy it off the street in powder form? Or how did you know how much you were actually taking? Or is all of this explained in the forum?

I'd imagine IV ketamine (any pre-knockout dose) would help many a mental ailment of the masses and i've not even tried it by that MOA.

Well from Jamshyds topic is says he takes VERY LITTLE amounts and he feels very little to no phsycadelic effects at all. So if they could make an anti-pressant that has this very low about of ketamine in it that you take once a week or however, i would definitely try it out.

I have a feeling your body will simply down-regulate the effect of taking K every week until your brain reaches some equilibrium point over a certain period of time.

Only one way to find out!

On a similar note, big (ish) pharma is quick at work on various selective NMDA modulators inspired by ketamines (not quite, I know ;)) efficacy as an antidepressant. Check out Naurex's GLYX-13, a tetrapeptide that acts as a glycine site functional partial agonist going into phase II trials shortly. This and other more selective modulators of NMDA share ketamines instant relief, and also have lasting effects (up to a couple weeks), but without all those "pesky" side effects of ketamine. ;) (supposedly a 500:1 therapeutic ratio).Naurex is also starting phase I trials with the NRX-1050 series, second generation GFPAs, but orally active. Many more similar projects coming down the pipeline, by them and many others. :D

Cool stuff, and great news for those suffering from treatment resistant depression!

I just ran a search for GLYX-13 and it looks like Naurex is actively recruiting volunteers for more phase trials.......would be interesting, no?

I did a lot of clinical trials when I was in school years ago, for shits and giggles, and for cash ;)
But did some goodies, a lot of opioid trials, a few oral THC trials, and even a lengthy ketamine study for pain management. Nothing like sitting in bed all day, getting fed and doted on, taking fun drugs, AND getting paid for it. Hooray! :D
