I've recently begun IV'ing Heroin and I've noticed that after I pull the needle out and clean up the injection site, there remains a small, pea sized lump around the injection site. Now I always make sure that I pull in a little blood first so I know I'm in the vein and it never burns when going in so I don't think I'm missing. Is the pea-sized lump around the injection site, normal?

Thanks Guys and Gals!

A pea sized lump of blood? That is normal for a lotta people, including myself, altho it depends on the vein I use as to the amount of blood, some people never seem to have any blood on the injection site but most have at least a little blood there,a drop or two depending on their blood pressure or if they have thin blood. So I would say normal from all I have seen and done.Hope this help answer your question.

I think I might have phrased my question wrong. There is not a pea-sized lump of blood, but a pea-sized swollen lump around the injection site. The skin around the injection site is raised up.

i noticed this when i first started IVing and was missing a fair few shots, it was only happening when i'd miss a few times in the same area, once i started registering everytime and rotating injection sites it never happened

If the lump lasts a while and then leaves a sore spot then you're likely missing a bit of your shot, maybe pushing out the back of the vein as you push the plunger in.

However, if the lump disappears within minutes and doesn't leave any residual soreness, then I'd guess you are probably injecting with the tie still on. If you inject with the tie on, the pressure on the vein can force a tiny amount of blood/injected material out of the hole you leave in your vein, causing a small spot that can resemble a miss (even happens if you register and then pull out without injecting with the tie on). This is only a minor drawback considering if you are injecting with the tie on, you are risking ballooning or collapsing the vein you are using.

Even if you don't hit the vein but simply draw back under the skin, this can still cause a raised lump which disappears in short manner.

heroin question

swim recently had a friend who had prepared a shot of heroin and cocaine and was ready to use in needle swims friend set down the needle and it rolled off into the toilet and there was urine in toilet swim then cleaned off needle with hydrogen peroxide and shot up should swim be worried about his decision

Could be a lot of things, but if it goes down within an hour or so it's nothing to worry about. Sometimes histamine reactions create lots of wierd lumps. It could be that there's a cut in the gear you're getting, or as mentioned you may be missing - not entirely, perhaps by pushing the needle through both walls of your vein, while a trickle of blood will still get into the needle when you pull back, you may not be entirely inside the vein. So it could be the result of a partial miss.
